A friend of mine taught me this simple bread recipe years ago. This one is always a favorite for summer barbecues.
So easy, a single guy can do it!
That's right, guys. This bread recipe is almost man-proof! The only thing you really have to do is make sure to watch your time. If you make this one for a home cooked meal date, she'll almost think you're a culinary genius.
Let's Bake!
Ingredients:
3 cups self-rising flour
¼ cup sugar
1 can of warm beer
Instructions:
Oven: 350°
Bake: 1 hour
Makes one loaf of bread. Mix ingredients and put into a greased bread pan. Bake for 30 minutes and spread lots of butter on top. Continue to bake for 30 additional minutes. Remove from pan and slice.
Suggestions
This bread is great plain, but it's also versatile. You'll find that it really sticks to your ribs, so consider saving some for the next morning and adding a little cinnamon and sugar on a re-heated slice.
My wife and I have also found that you can mix just about anything in with the batter, such as:
- Finely chopped garlic
- Jalapenos
- Chopped bacon
Let your imagination be your limit!

This recipe sounds wonderful and the good thing it doesn't require time to prepare. I don't spend more than 30 minutes in my kitchen. But this recipe needs me to turn back to brush with butter. It's OK the oven's alarm will bring me back. Thanks for sharing Lloyd, my regards to your wife :)
