Here are some information and tips on scholarship scams that you might want to know

Getting Rid of Scholarship Scams

College is one of the largest expenses a family can include. Sadly, many students and parents fall victim to scholarship scams when they’re trying to get money to help pay for school.
It is not in fact essential to use a scholarship service to find ways to cut your college costs. Most scholarships can be researched in the library and on the Internet for free. But many people use a scholarship service to cut down on the effort they’ll need to do on their own. The only problem with using a scholarship service is figuring out which ones are genuine and which ones you need to pass up.
One of the first, key signs that a scholarship propose could be a scam is if the examination says it can guarantee you’ll get a scholarship or grant. Scholarships can never be assured. And paying an advance fee will not secure you a monetary award. Most likely, if you do pay a fee for scholarship, even under a money- back guarantee, you won’t obtain either the scholarship or your reimbursement.
Here are some other safety measures to acquire:
• Don’t consider a group that tells you that you can’t find the same information anywhere else. Before you think about paying for lists of sources, do some research on your own.
• Beware of companies that tell you need to give them your credit card or bank account number so they hold a scholarship or grant for you. A valid scholarship will never need this.
• Stay away from companies that tell you they’ll do the entire job for you; because this is not possible .You will constantly have to fill any legal scholarship paperwork yourself, such as personal essays or personal narration.
• Watch out for companies that tell you the scholarship will cost you money. Scholarships and grants are created to save money and should never have a fee attached.
• Never trust an association that calls you to tell you that you’ve been chosen as a finalist in a competition you never entered. Legitimate scholarship and grant organizations do not beg you. You must go to them.
