How to help a hoarder clean out his or her home, How to get them to understand the risk
Can Hoarders Be Saved Or is it a ongoing cycle?
We've all seen the shower Hoarders, but have you actually help clean up a hoarder's home? Today I will be giving you tips on how to clean one! Hoarding isn't new, it's been around for a while. Hoarding takes collecting to the extremes and it is often collecting trash and newspapers and they refuse to throw away anything. After a while it takes over their lives and completely fills there homes. When a hoarder dies or decides to get help their family seeks help for hoarding behavior, family and friends are often called upon to help clean up, which can seem like a pretty overwhelming task.
Don't make safety a chore, make it your priority. During any kind of hoarding clean up safety precautions should be followed with all cleaning operations in the hoarders home. Walking into these you don't know what you are getting into, this can make the cleaning situation very difficult and risky to anyone trying to clean. Cleaners often come across the risk of mold, mildew, rotten food, flammable materials or any other hazards. Anyone who cleans a hoarders home should wear a full painters body suit ,thick gardening gloves, goggles, and particle-filtering mask who can be purchased at any home improvement stores. When going through the home take your time, you can come across old rusty nails, or anything that can be potentially harmful,go through slowly and carefully, because your health is important too.
Taking it slow is crucial! It can be beyond tempting to grab and toss everything in one round, trying to tackle the whole house in a day or two, you can become over whelmed much more quickly. As you are cleaning the home, handling clean up one room at a time or even a section of a room at a time allows all the people who are cleaning up and the hoarder to take it more slowly and cautious, When you focus on a smaller section it can make it less overwhelming-which is what everyone wants. For instance if one cleaning pass can be focused on cleaning out the bedroom or bathroom before taking a stop and moving to the other side of the house.
Once everything has been removed from the home, then it will be tiem to sort through it to see what can be saved, for this section you will need plenty of trash bags, bins, markers to make labels and put whats for trash and what's for keeping. You might want to hire portable dumpsters or large containers such as pods to store things. When helping a hoarder try to manage any and all emotions, you or the hoarder can feel anxious and upset. Handling your feelings is important as clearing up the mess. After clearing up the mess look for Therapist who deals with Hoarders to help them get through the whole process. And if the mess gets to much for you to handle then call in professionals to help, Calling outside help can also cut down on the amount of stuff that you need to do, the ones you need to trash, the ones you keep, and also the ones you will be donating.

That is a nice article on hoarders! Yes, it is difficult to understand the psychology of a hoarder! But the result as discussed by you is often a junk yard at the home! Thanks for nice share!

I'm a little bit of a hoarder in that I keep things "because you never know when you might need them" - and then years later I have an emergency where my hoarding proves to be an asset and really helps! But I never hoard newspapers though.
