How to Find Your Blogs Page Rank
How does Google pick which blogs to show when you do a search? It uses a system that involve many things, SEO mostly, and assigns a "Page Rank". I am not an expert on this, but want to tell you how to check your blog's page rank.
What is Page Rank
Page Rank is a number between 0 and 10 assigned to a blog by Google. Your number can go up at any time if you have increased your SEO.
Some blogs rank a N/A rating, meaning they are too new to get a number. Many will be at Page Rank of 1, this seems low, but is actually good, getting to a 10 is tough, I do not even know if such blogs exist.
The page rank does not indicate which "page" your blog will be on when a search is made, but a higher number means it is more likely to be shown higher up in a search, than a lower number but other things do come into play too.
How to Find Your Blog's Page Rank
I do not have a blog, but my wife has several on Blogger.
I use this site: PR Rank Checker.Info.
It is very simple.
Suppose you have a blogger blog.
You might have many blog posts which would have their own unique URL, such as:
You do not want to put that whole thing through the system because it would only check that ONE page of your blog, not your whole blog.
Instead check your main page - in this example: http://theanimalcabin.blogspot.com/
The Page Rank Checker shows it has a Page Rank of 1.
If I check my wife's other blog http://baaramewesheep.blogspot.com/ it shows up as Page Rank 2.
While her ranting blog http://welldealwithit.blogspot.com/ earns a Page Rank of 0.
Wikinut.com has a Page Rank of 3.
Do YOU have a Blog?
Do you have a Blog? Why not check it and post your blog URL and its Page Rank in the Comments?
Remember check the main landing page.
If your Blog accepts comments, I (or my wife) might even pop by and say Hello! By the way comments can increase your SEO, but you need to be sure to moderate them regularly removing any that are clearly unrelated spam and accepting good ones that add value to your Blog.
How to Raise Your Page Rank
Most of the ways to increase your Blog's Page Rank are SEO tweaks. The more posts you have your rank will also increase, you will note the blog my wife has that rates a 0 has very few posts in relationship to the others that rank well.
Give it Time - If your Page Rank shows up as N/A or 0, you may need to wait - Google does not check and assign page ranks daily, I was told it updates this every 3 months.
Promoting your blog is the main way to get it to rank higher. It should have incoming links, and outgoing links too!
