This article includes the recipe I use to make bread in my bread machine.

Let's bake!

Okay, so it’s not really famous. I make this for nearly every family function and the times I didn’t bring it there were sad faces all around. Even after I confess that I use a bread machine I still have people wanting to know how I keep it from being bland. In this article I will reveal my secret ingredient. This recipe makes a one pound loaf. Ingredients are listed in order by the way I add them recommended by the manufacturer of my machine. Others may vary. I suggest you check the instruction manual that came with your machine to see what order it recommends.

Ingredients:
• ¾ cup water
• 4 tsp oil
• 4 tsp sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 TBL Mrs. Dash (my secret ingredient)
• 2 ¼ cups bread flour
• 1 ½ tsp active dry yeast

1. After adding ingredients, select the basic cycle. I prefer to use the light or medium crust for mine.
2. To remove the bread, carefully remove the bread pan using oven mitts and turn it upside down. Shake it several times to release loaf. Carefully remove the kneading blade. Allow the loaf to cool for about 20 minutes before cutting.

I’ve had some people swear that there is no need to use bread flour and they substitute all purpose instead because it is quite a bit cheaper. I’ve tried this before when I ran out of bread flour and didn’t feel like going to the store. I felt the texture of the bread was off. On the other hand my family still wolfed it down and there were no complaints. So it might be in my mind.
