It Won't Happen Overnight, but it Must Happen Soon

If we fail to change our ways - and change them radically - in a very short we will see suffering in this world as never before.
Climate change
Oh, I know. There are those who say - most of them apologists for the corporate state - that climate change is a hoax, but the evidence we now have is irrefutable. The verdict is in. The glaciers in the Himalayas are rapidly receding as they melt, and the watershed of these great mountains sustains the lives of two-and-a-half billion people, a third or more of the population of this planet. When the great rivers of Asia are reduced to a trickle, what then? The ice that covers Greenland is rapidly melting. When the sea levels rise ten or twenty feet, what then? When Manhattan Island becomes submerged, and Florida is no more, what then?
We must change our ways
I am an optimist. I believe there is a great shift in process, and that a global awareness and consciousness of the need to radically alter our way of living is emerging and picking up speed at a geometrically increasing rate. But I am also a realist. The powers that be are uninterested in such imperatives as the need to create sustainability for the planet. But change happens from the bottom up, and as more and more people at the level of the grass roots become aware of the mess we are in, solutions will appear and people will begin to take the actions necessary to heal our planet from the ravages of an exploitative and murderous economic and social system.
It is not too late, but it soon may be if we fail to commit ourselves to the belief that we are all one family, and that we need to begin to act like it.

Outstanding--I totally agree. I have a suggestion for you, based on Mark's recent post about how to increase page views--use the keyword CLIMATE CHANGE in your title, summary and tag section. Consider lengthening the articles by a hundred words or more...add photos. Then it will be a star page for sure. This is an important, relevant message.
Warmest regards,
rd

I totally agree with you. Our islands here in the Pacific are slowing seeking and many of our peeopl would be climate change refugees. Be prepared to recieve them.

Climate change maybe a natural process but funking up the water, land and air now that is proof that Capitalism and the associated Greed and lack of foresight involved in this paradigm is a real problem with little need for debate!
