People look at me funny when I tell them I don't use toothpaste-until I tell them I DO brush my teeth!
Homemade Toothpaste, your step by step tutorial.
This recipe will make about 1 1/4 cups toothpaste. You can store it in baby food jars or you can buy tubes especially made for homemade products.
To make your own toothpaste, you will need:
2/3 cup baking soda (Available at grocery stores.)
1/3 cup salt (Available at grocery stores.)
10 teaspoons glycerin (Available at health food stores.)
distilled water (Available at grocery, or health food stores.)
essential oil ( Available at health food stores. Mint or cinnamon would be preferable. I'd probably steer clear of things like lavender or rose. Yuck!)
Mix the baking soda, salt and glycerine together.
Slowly add distilled water until the mixture turns into a thick paste.
Add quite a few drops of your preferred essential oil for flavor, and mix together.
Get your toothbrush out and brush your teeth!
You should not be suprised to know that make-your-own toothpaste is better for the environment. There are no toxic chemicals, and besides, making your own household products is just plain fun!
