Marilyn in Kisses
Art can be expressed in any number of ways, and one of the most unusual to surface recently has been that of Natalie Irish, Houston, Texas based artist whose utterly unique approach to painting creates beautiful portraits.
Using lipstick, giving her lips a good coating, then puckering them, she plants them firmly onto a blank canvas, in what has to be one of the most organic art forms you could ever wish to see, showcasing her artistic talent in a very unique way.
Natalie learned to paint pictures using thumb prints in her school days, demonstrating an aptitude for artistic pursuits that is strong, and she has many other kinds of art to display, including unique handbags, but her lipstick art is truly wonderful to behold.
It seems somehow very appropriate that the first subject of her lip service should be the sex fantasy of every man in her day, and the ultimate ruby-red lipstick girl Marilyn Monroe, Natalie getting ready to go to a show one night, putting on a red lipstick, blotting it on a piece of paper and suddenly realizing the possibilities.
She began experimenting, deciding Marilyn would be perfect for a portrait composed of kisses, though she owns up to her lips getting very tired, and
her eyes, too, from constantly scanning the canvas at varying distances to check that the work is progressing well..
The quality of her portraiture, and the stunning likenesses of the images she creates is quite amazing, the Marilyn image quite striking, making it difficult to accept that she used only her lips to bring it to life.
Intricate art works like this, and the stunning new lipstick portrait of Jimi Hendrix - named Influence and commissioned by Jermaine Rogers – created through kissing a canvas with Urban Decay 'Confession' lipstick, just go to demonstrate how very talented this young lady is, which you can find out more about at http://www.natalieirish.com/
