Who will win the 2010 World Cup? Life has parallels and so does football.
World Cup Trend #2
In a previous article I showed that World Cup Football Finals like life repeat themselves. That article dealt with first and second places at the World Cup Finals alternating from one to the other. (see http://www.wikinut.com/trends-in-world-cup-football-soccer-finals-part-1/24vofa99/ncgji016/) This article deals with another mirror-like or chiasmic trend which focuses almost exclusively on first place.
TREND 2
Let us start with Italy in 1982. Italy is the mid-point of the trend or pattern. Before and after Italy in 1982 we see a mirror-like image. Argentina winning in 1978 mirrors Argentina winning in 1986. West Germany winning in 1974 mirrors their win in 1990. In 1970 Brazil played against Italy and won the Cup and that is mirrored in 1994 when they again met Italy in the Final and beat them, winning the World Cup.
In 1966 there was a change in the trend. Even in Trend 1 that we looked at in the previous article there was a deviation from the pattern a bit. See http://sportales.com/soccer/trends-in-world-cup-football-soccer-finals-part-one/ But note that in that year – 1966 – England won in England and in the parallel year – 1998 – France won in France. So when there is a deviation from one trend another trend is followed. But that is the subject of another article – Trend 3.
Then we come to Brazil winning in 1962. The diagram shows that the parallel is Brazil winning in 2002. We come to another deviation in Trend 2 which is no real deviation because 2006 followed Trend 1 not Trend 2. Trend 1 in a previous article pointed to Italy being in the final two spots. They eventually won that year although Trend 2 pointed to Brazil. Why did Trend 1 and Trend 2 conflict? The reason is that from 1962 – 2006 whenever a South American Team won the Cup the next time around a European team won and the Cup alternated between South America and Europe ever since. However, that was not so prior to 1962 as Italy won two successive World Cup Finals in 1934 and 1938 and Brazil won two successive Cups in 1958 and 1962. Hence there is a conflict in trends in 2006 and even in 2010. Whichever trend is followed one would be wrong and the other right.
Who will win the 2010 World Cup?
Who will win the 2010 World Cup? Trend 2 above points to Germany, the parallel being their win in 1954. Trend 3, the subject of another article, points to any South American team since a European team won the last World Cup. Uruguay, two-time champions in the early days of World Cup (1930 and 1950), have seen a resurgence in popularity, but Trend 2 points to them having to wait until 2014 to get the Cup – a parallel of 1950. In life most things are not one hundred percent certain. Much is not set in stone (except the Ten Commandments). (Actually this article is set on paper). But one thing is sure – whatever happens 2010 was to be Germany’s year.
