When We Got Lightning
My wife and I went to the Wisconsin Human Society and was looking for a dog. By this time we already had three cats. First we saw a couple of dogs in one room and check them out. They weren't the dogs we were looking for. But his brother was in the next room and decided to look at him. Lighting (was name Sandy) was very calm and very polite. Lighting is a Border Collie/ Australian Cattle Dog mix. So we decided to adopt him. We had gotten all the things needed from the pet store at the shelter.
Lightning Loves His Toys
Lightning always enjoys playing with his toys. His favorite toys are squeaky one. His favorite past time is playing tug. For him toy is considered a tug toy. What ever if it is a tug rope, a Frisbee or any of his toys, all are considered a tug toy. But lately he does enjoy playing with balls. And at times he wants me to play fetch with him.
Taking Lightning To Places
When my wife and I still had a car we enjoyed taking Lightning places like pet stores that allows us to bring him into the store. It was one way to get him to socialize with other people and other dogs. He enjoyed going to them. We also like to take him to dog friendly parks, especially the one where we can leave him off the leash. The dog park was fenced in so we didn't mind leaving off the so didn't take off on us.
We also took Lightning to places like Sonic Drive In. He enjoyed his time time there. He ended up getting a puppy ice cream. He had most of it, but had to finished it home later.
Getting Along With The Cats
He tries to get along with the cats. Once in a while he tries to herd them and Stormy the one in the picture usually takes exception to it and expresses his opinion about being herded. Lightning usually expresses his thoughts back at him, by barking at him. It is all good though.
My Final Thoughts
As I look back over the last four years since we have gotten Lightning, he has been a very good dog. Sure there was bad things that he did like ripping the inside of my wife's shoe and taking food off one our plates when we weren't looking. But overall he is a very good dog. And Lightning is one of the biggest couch potatoes there is. He is one big daddy's boy. We love him as much as loves us, which is a whole lot.
Lightning is my big boy and I love him very much.
