There is a tattoo artist in Australia, who became famous for creating paintings that are bizarre, not just in the subject matter, but also because he uses his own blood to create them!
art
There is, in Sydney, Australia, a tattooist called Rev Mayers who brings a whole new meaning to the uses of human blood. This Australian Artist, who has a website, Facebook and Twitter pages devoted to his alter-ego, known as Bloodpainter, gives the art world something possibly never seen before. Dr. Rev, as he refers to himself, uses his own blood to create amazing artworks, which are without doubt among the most dynamic and fascinating images you will ever see/.
Dr. Rev is first and foremost a tattoo artist, which some may feel is reflected in the way his paintings are both structured and presented. He has developed his artistic style over many years, involving a variety of techniques, mainly involving airbrushing, standard paint brushing, scraping, smudging and layering. Through this he has taken his blood painting ventures to new high levels, well received globally..
Blood is something that we tend to think about in a negative way, usually, because if we see it, then someone or something is in real trouble, but Dr. Rev wants to encourage people to see blood as life affirming rather than threatening, creating images both illusory and realistic, to underline the idea that blood can represent human conflict, evolution, decay and emotion, but also the beauty of wildlife and environmental forces.
His so-called ‘BloodArt’ creations represent life, birth and nature in general. By creating his art with his own life force in the form of blood, Dr.Rev has quickly established a world-wide reputation such that examples of his work can be found in homes around the world, where the individuals concerned crave the unusual and do not fear to possess the unusual.
Rev Mayers tells us himself, on his Facebook page that he is a tattoo artist, painter, airbrush artist, photographer, blood painter and sculptor. He has, as he puts it, a ‘perpetual itch that needs scratching’ where art is concerned, needing to create something, no matter what it is. His paintings are stunning, shocking, sensual and evocative. You will find it hard to forget any of these awesome images once seen, because somehow they stay with you, as if the blood of the artist has somehow been transfused into your own.
It is rare indeed to come across art that is so utterly unforgettable as the Bloodart paintings of Dr. Rev, but they should indeed be treasured by any that own them, because they each shout messages of life and death, hope and salvation, beauty and despair while depicting achingly superb images of truly fantastic things, be they real or imaginary.
It seems highly likely that this sensational artist will become ever more famous in years to come, and deservedly so, for those who really dare to push the boundaries demonstrate time and again that art has no limitations other than the imaginations of the artists involved. Bloodart may be a relatively new thing, with Bloodpainter Dr.Rev something of a pioneer, but it is certain that others will follow his lead. Such gloriously irreverent artwork. Brilliant.
