Quick Tips to Earn More Money Writing Articles

If you write for Wikinut, or any other site, these tips will help you make more money.
Better Titles and Summaries
Your title should be 3-8 words long and contain at least 2 key words.
Your summary should be a sentence or two, and also contain some key words. Your summary should not be repeated at the start of your article as this will look unprofessional. It should be an invitation for people to read more.
Search engines look at both titles, and summaries, so make sure yours are great.
Have quality, and quantity
Write well, and write lots. Do not just stop at 200 words, search engines won't even look at such short pages so you will not get views from sources other than your own promotions. As a general rule 400 -1200 words is great. If you write more than 300 words here on Wikinut, you should use the "Add New Section" feature so your page isn't a wall of text.
Be informative. Informative pages get more views and get shared more. Poetry is great to read, but does not get the same number of views as links that provide real information.
Do Not Forget Tags
So many writers forget to tag their pages, or do not have enough tags. You should have at least 6 tags, but not more than 20. Placing unrelated tags drags down your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) ranking and so even if you tag with a word that is currently a "hot topic" this will really haunt you in the end, and will piss off readers, who will click off your page before it even counts as a view anyhow.
If you are stuck and cannot think of tags, use the key words in your title, use your name, if you wrote a poem tag with "poem, poetry", use plurals of nouns such as "dog, dogs".
Shorter tags that are 1-2 words long work better than a specific phase used as a tag.
Pictures
Nearly every page should have a picture. People like seeing images. You should use your own picture, but if you do not have one you can get one off the Internet but MUST be aware that you do need to check for copyright permission.
Images you find on Bing, or Google, are probably not safe or legal to use. You should always link back to your image source if the picture is not your own, and should use extra caution when using celebrity images.

Comments
Be sure to visit other writers pages and leave comments. Hopefully those writers will return the favor, and this will count as a page view.
In return one thing to note is that search engines also look at comments. When you leave a comment on a persons page you should use at least one of their key words. Leaving a comment such as "Good Article" does nothing, however leaving a comment such as "Good information on improving internet earnings" will help that writer, and will show that you really cared about the information they took the time to share with you.

Thanks Mark, I found the bit about using SEO related tags particularly helpful. Also, I had never considered the need to help a writer by using their key words when you leave a comment.

Just wanna know, Mark, why more than 25 views gets 0.001, more than that the same thing. I mean even more than 80 views, the same. You only get an average of 0.001 for a hard day work writing? You notice other writers stop?

And btw, information can be accessed everywhere other than wikinut. Poetry they cannot which is an individual expression of people of different cultures. That's where i disagree with you, Mark.

The thing about poetry is that people do not go looking for it and if they do there are millions of poems, and most would look for poetry by known poets. I am not saying do not write poetry, just people need to be aware that poetry is not often something that will get hits or go viral as a result of searches or shares.

These are very helpful tips. I will refer to this page as my guide. I've been writing for over a year now & haven't made any money, but I do get a lot of views a day. Why haven't I gotten paid yet?

if you only write poetry you may not have reached the minimum payout because poetry does not get many views, or a high payout rate.

Thanks again for the info Mark. I think as of now, I think I am following some steps. I'll check on the number of my title the next time. The tags are good to know too (since I can write tags in phrases). As for the pics, I think I better linked them out the next time. I usually get mine from Google. I used to linked but checking some articles here, I observed that no one links theirs even its really obvious that its not theirs. Thanks again and thanks for the star.

Mark, thank you for your kind words and warnings. I'm really very exiting about the topic of cyberstalking. My ministry deals with abused women and supporting them. I never sell ministry books. I'm glad to have found a topic to write about that I can use as a fundraiser. The cyberstalking articles are an experiment. I think I can squeeze an ebook out of it. That alone, gives me joy. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve the articles I'm all ears.

Well said, Mark. Really appreciate these do's and don't's.
I began with poetry. But I have plans to publish my book length fiction here part by part, as pages here, as I finish it. Do you think it's a good idea before I make it a book? I think it's better than making an ebook which can be easily plagiarized and distributed freely without rights.

Questions like how many key words should I use and how long should my articles be?
