Most Americans love watching football. The Super Bowl is a huge family gathering, with friends and plenty of food. Topped off with a few extras and you have the makings for a great Super Bowl party.

Sunday, Sunday!

February 5, 2012. At 6:30 PM eastern standard time, on ABC. The New York Giants and the New England Patriots will play for the title of Super Bowl XLVI Champion. This should make for one great battle and no, the battle will not just be between these two teams.

All over America, people that love each other will all of a sudden become enemies, well, for at least that Sunday.

Friendly bets will be made by mothers against sons, friends against friends or even, wife against husband. All in the friendly sport of competition. They will make these bets at least 1 week, if not two weeks in advance. The sides will then be sealed and the competition begins.

Though these loved ones shall go out of their way to make their opponents life as miserable as possible and even though, they will yell at each other, one hour before the game and 1 hour after. They really do love each other, it is just a competition thing.

Those that are throwing a Super Bowl Party will also make sure that their enemies, will have the best time one could have on a Super Bowl Sunday.

Must Have!

Start early, when torturing your enemy. That would be, early and often. Make sure you forward every email that you can find, that degrades there team. Do not forget to send every link to all the You tube videos tearing their team to shreds.

These items are essential:

3 white poster boards

Magic markers/crayons.

Duct tape.

One day when your victim least expects it, notice where your victims eye level is, while standing in their doorway. When they are not looking, mark it.

Start

On one side of your poster board write messages, calling them a loser, as many times as you can and in every possible way you are able to.

Make sure to take your time and make them pretty now. You want your loved ones to know, you will take every step possible to put out the very best art, your little fingers can muster.

Remember: We do love them!

When your enemy falls asleep, the night before the game. Grab your decorated poster boards and the duct tape.

Start at the Top!

Place your first poster board on top, where you have already marked where their eye level is.

You want to make sure, you give them enough room at top, so you are able to witness the one you love's expression when he notices the lovely art work you have just made for them.

After I get the first poster board up, I then add a second one to just below the top one.

Tape that poster board to the doorway.

You might have to overlap the last one, as you want to have a 10 inch gap at the bottom.

I mean, you do love them, so you will at least give them a easy way out, right?

Do not be stingy on the duct tape.

Bubba's hardware is just around the corner.

Now Showing!

The next morning, set your alarm 1/2 hour ahead of the time your victim wakes up.

You want to make sure you have drink in hand.

Get a front row seat and have the camera ready.

Popcorn is optional but, I think it adds to the whole atmosphere we are trying to create here.

I can tell by the look on Dan's face that he, is ready for some...

FOOTBALL!

Yes, They Must Eat!

This is no time to worry about calories, we are here to eat and eat well we will. We do not apologize for it, nor should we.

We will make sure we have all the 'right foods' for our company.

We will make soups, chili, not only delicious but, beautiful sandwiches.

We will make sure that we have plenty of appetizers laid out all over the house. Just in case someone needed a knosh just at that very moment.

The barbecue grill will be used and we will grill everything that we think our guest will like. From roasted meat to vegetarian dishes made to please all the likes we think our guest will enjoy.

There will be plenty of luscious desserts and beverages for all to enjoy.

With What!

Yes we will do it with flair. This will be the best Super Bowl Party any one will ever have attended in their life. Well, we tell ourselves this every year that is and usually, it is true.

We will take out our best dishes. We will add a bit of something nice here and there. We want to let our enemy know, we still love them...

Even though our team is about to kick their team's butts.

We will make dishes like my potato soup and add fixin's for your fellow competitors to mix and mingle, as we all know, this is a contact sport.

Utilize All!

For those that show up to your party early, they can help you chop things up. They are there, they want to have fun and I promise you, they will be very eager to help.

Man Rule: Do not make the person mad, that will feed you.

Men are a perfect people to peel potatoes. I can not remember the last time I peeled a potato in my house.

After years of being a mama, a girl scout leader and watching many of kids along the way, I have learned how to delegate and delegating is the key to having a Super Bowl party you are able to enjoy, right along with everyone else.

So do as much of the prep work the day before, as I will with my pasta salad. What ever tasks are left to do, make your early guest help you tackle the last tasks for the feast you are preparing.

Food!

Did I mention, food is a very important player in this game, we call Super Bowl Sunday.

I have supplied you with some options for carrying out a great Super Bowl party and I will be adding more within the next 2 weeks.

This will be your one stop shop!

As we all know, there is never enough food.

I will make sure to add dishes that will please all appetites.

Even though they are our enemies (for that day), we still want them to leave our party crying over losing but, also having a smile on their face because...

They will know that someone thought of them, during their time of heartbreak.

You see, we do love them after all.

We just do not want them to be winners 'today'.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

This year I think it will be a hard fought game. No, not between you and the ones you love but, between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. Both have a good offense and even though the New England Patriots defense had struggled throughout the season, their defense have shown a lot of promise during the play offs.

I have not decided which team I will be taking because, since my son was around 7 years old, we have always bet against each other and for some reason, it is always his turn to go first, hmmm. When Marcus finally tells me which team he has picked for the Super Bowl game, then all I have to say is:

Let the games begin!

SUPER BOWL XLVI! V-F D: Food, Family, Friends, Football, & Drinks!
SUPER BOWL XLVI! V-F A: Food, Family, Friends, Football, Fun & Appetizers!

When I first decided to share our family's 'box them in' game with others, was back on May, 23, 2011. This was when I was reading Steve's article and it brought up memories of Dan and I doing this to the kids and I shared the story with Steve.

Please take the time to read this article, I really enjoy it...

Sorry Krrymarie, y'all do not get the Super Bowl. It has been a family tradition with me, since I was knee high to a grasshopper. My mama loved football and we were raised on all kinds of sports. Thank you for your kind words and for stopping by.:)

I hear ya. It really is a huge thing here. People pay upwards of 2 million bucks for a 30 second commercial because, of the viewership they get here in America. It is crazy! Of course my team did not make it, oh well. It still is a great time to be with the ones you love and get a bit crazy. My husband sells cars and they even close down the car lot. No one will be looking at cars, they will all be watching the Super Bowl. LOL

Well I wish I could. One day the hubby and I will make it across the pond. My next big trip and has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, has been England. I have lived in Guam and Japan. More than a few places in the USA but, I have always just been in love with England. One day when we come, I will make it around Super Bowl time and we will party! LOL
If only!

I hear ya! I am all fired up. I have no dog in this hunt though. Of course, my Falcons never had a chance of ever seeing that field. <eyeroll>
I think Marcus will take NY and I will get the Pats but, I never know. Krystal bets against Dan and 'I know' She will take NY, so Dan will have the Pats. It should be a good game. Thank you for stopping by.:)

My team is not in the Mix-Up (The Denver Broncos) so I will go with NY simply because they are the team that my son and grandson will be rooting for. I have no idea about what team my stepson will be rooting for this year. He switches teams like I change my underwear...well almost as often as I change my underwear anyway.

LOL I hear ya. My brother Billy was a cowboy's fan big time, I mean since we were little. About 10 years ago he switched to the Patriots. His excuse (eyeroll) is, he was born in Mass. True but, hey! LOL
I was a packers fan and then when I moved to Georgia (when I was 14), I became a fan of all teams Georgia and I keep with it, sadly. One day, we will come back, I just know it! LOL
I really think this is going to be one of the best match ups we have had in a long time. Good times my friend.:)

Thank you my dear. My kin folk from Mass are excited, that's for sure. Uncle Richie is the only Giants fan in the family, you know he is going to get hit hard by them. Yes, they too are sports nuts. My Auntie said she is going to have to get some xanax for the game, as she is just getting too old for all of this.LOL
I think it is going to be a great game. We have taught Tristan to raise his arms and he yells 'touchdown!', it is too cute. When Dan asked Tristan if he is going to be on his side or Gammy's side, he looked right to him and said 'Gammy!". We all just laughed. Smart boy!

Rathna, thank you for being so honest by saying this. It speaks well of your character. I think we all did at one point or another, envy those that were able to get a star and here we would try and try and it just would not happen. I went to the star pages and I started to study them. I also would take all the advice any one wanted to put at me, I am here to learn. I feel us folks that have been here for as long as we have, have all helped each other, in one way or another. I am a proud follower of you also. Thank you my friend.:)
