How to get into the business of writing articles and loving it

Writing, writing, writing

First, it would help you a lot if you know a little about SEO, links, back links, cut and paste and so on and it might be a good idea to go online and search for what is a link and what is a back link and just brush up a little about the article writing process before you begin. There is really nothing to writing an article if you are a knowledgeable person and can follow instructions. Usually, snippets are 150 words, and articles range from 200 words to 2000 words and more. The articles called for most of the time are in the range of 300 words, 500 words, and 700 words.

Where to begin

Go online and search for online writing jobs or paid online writing jobs and go through their list of articles that employers or contractors need done. Usually they will request ten articles of 500 words, but there is no set number of words. Payment will be calculated per article or by the hour and usually the topic they want you to write about. Usually upon contact you may be asked to provide a sample of your writing. You write the article if you know something about the subject, but you would be well advised to write what you know about. It cannot be stressed enough. When you know your subject, you have lots of information and can talk knowledgeably and passionately about it. This is what article writing is about; information. Of course, we all do research, and that’s how we learn more. Have a good think on what you are good at before you start writing.

Do's and don'ts for a newbie article writer

• Do not send off an article until you have read it twice and ensured there are no grammatical errors. An employer will not give you a second chance. Your writing is your passport.

• There are hundreds of article writing jobs out there. Make a list of the sites you want to write for before you rush out to write your first article.

• Do not be put off by contractors who cannot speak English properly in their instructions to you. Your job is to present flawless writing.

• When sending out a sample of your writing, be sure to add somewhere at the bottom that your article is a sample and already published on the internet. Don’t come across as a newbie. There are scammers who steal articles and make a few cosmetic changes and post them on the net.

• Research your article well and look for those hidden nuggets of information that not everyone knows about, and write about it.

• Don’t be stiff in your writing. A little cheek and tongue-in-cheek is okay. This one is, isn’t it? And I’ve brought you to the end of the article without losing you as a reader.

• Most important, when it comes to editing your article, be ruthless. Kill off all those little darlings that you think are so important; they’re not worth anything if they don’t propel your article with good and fresh information.
