Super Bowl XLVI! V-F M: Food, Family, Friends, Football, Fun & Meat!
Barbecues will be lit all around the USA come Super Bowl Sunday, yes we will be grilling, chicken, hamburgers, steaks and of course hot dogs. Yes my friends, meat will be had.
Sunday, February 5, 2012, the New York Giants and the New England Patriots will once again be playing each other, for the Super Bowl XLVI championship title. Teams have already been picked, the bets are now placed and it is just time to get ready for some football.
Some Americans will opt for the barbecue grill, while others will be cooking in the oven, on the stove and even in crockpots. Even though each cook shall have their own cooking method, one thing they will all have in common is meat.
Yes we will supply our guest with the most mouthwatering meat they will ever place in their mouths. Even our furry friends will get some meat thrown on the grill for their enjoyment...
They are family, right!
Men will take to holding their barbecue utensils with pride, they not only have brought the meat home, they now will cook it, they are men, they must barbecue!
Okay, let us be real, usually the man starts the barbecue, I mean they must ignite something and after the third hot dog has been burned, us women will take over. At least that is how it has gone in my household for decades.
Of course being a good wife, I will allow my husband to take credit for the meat that will be grilled. I will not mention that I was the one that shopped for the meat, marinaded it and then was the one that actually cooked most of the meat they are now enjoying.
Man Rule: Do not burn the meat, it is not right and it makes the wife mad
Meat: It's What's for Dinner
Yes we will be having meat. This is the Super Bowl by the way, we want action and meat!
There will be 100 million Americans watching the New York Giants and the New England Patriots go head to head, as they gobble up sweet and tangy ribs.
Burgers will be served and they will be big, juicy and darn tasty.
We will have other stuff alright but, what we really want is...
Almost Super Bowl Time!
EFF-IT-BALLS have been made. You have your appetizers in the refrigerator, just waiting for your guest to arrive. Yes my friends, Kick off will begin in a little less than 24 hours.
This is the time to go around and make sure you have everything and anything your guests will desire. Some of your guest might be your enemy (just for Sunday) but, we will love them again Monday and they will once again be our team.
So make sure you treat your enemy with as much love as you can muster up and feed them well. Remember dishes will need to be done, no need in making your dishwashers, oops I mean those you love, too upset over (wink, wink) a football game.
Check Your List!
Come morning time, Dan will add ice to our wash tub of drinks. He will go to the basement and make sure he has enough ice for our guest. If not, Dan already has a back up plan. John did borrow his saw last week, he does have a deep freeze in his basement...
Super Bowl is the time you must call on all the people you know, so they can help you and your guest have the most fun they will have at any Super Bowl Party. Until next year, that is.
I will make sure we have plenty of Iced tea made for those that do not partake in alcoholic beverages. I will also cut up lemon, limes and orange wedges to garnish our guest drinks.
I will make me a list when I get up in the morning and as I go through each step, I will cross it off. We must be prepared!
I will go to You Tube and get the latest prank videos on the New York Giants and send it to my son, so he will remember, it is football time and my team is going to kick his team's butt!
After I have checked and re-checked everything, I will grab me a cold glass of southern iced tea, kick back and wait for the guest to arrive.
Sweet Tee is already setting up at the scimage line, as Bugg slowly walks up, ready to get in position, yes these two are ready for the games to begin. I know I am ready, now let us play some...
