The Italian Box gives you such a good drive.
When the price of petrol started to rise, I questioned whether I could afford to run my car. My other half has his own car, but often our trips take us in opposite directions, and to share a car would only work when we were going on a leisure trip together. We are both retired now, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have a busy life. We are both out and about all day, and we visit people who haven’t got a car, who sometimes need to have a lift somewhere.
We both have a Renault Clio, chosen in the first place because they are small but nippy cars, and we get quite a good mileage to the gallon. When the family were young, we had to have a big car to fit 4 children in, but these days I rarely have more than 2 people including myself in the car.
A Diesel car seemed to be the answer
A couple of years back we changed to a diesel Renault, which is more expensive initially, but with more miles to the gallon, it wasn’t long before the difference was made up. But more recently the cost of diesel petrol rose heavily, with no sign of it going down again, even if oil prices in the Middle East do fall. I began to wonder if actually we were any better off, but had to resign myself to something that was beyond my control.
Then recently someone told Keith abut an Italian Box, which is a device which is fitted to the engine to enable it to perform more efficiently. He even boasted that he could get as much as 25% more mileage per gallon out of his car.
Keith was very sceptical, but his curiosity was aroused, and he managed to pick one up on ebay for £69. The difference in performance to his car was truly amazing. Not only is it performing much more smoothly, it also reaches higher speeds quicker, and uses less fuel to do so. And yes it is true, the car now does 25% more miles to the gallon, making a tank of fuel last a week longer than it used to.
Now I also have an Italian box fitted to my car. He did it for me, and we didn’t need to pay the cost of a garage to do it, as it is relatively easy to do. There is nothing that any of us can do about rising fuel prices, but we have done our best to get the most out of our car to make it a bit more affordable. I do have a bus pass if all else fails, but there is nothing like the independence your own car gives you. Good luck to anyone else who tries it, I think you will be delighted with the results.
