Profile of new art in a very old place...rising from the ashes of despair to bring beauty and life

24 Below

Designers and Interior Decorators are fond of saying that everything old is new again And when it comes to fashion that recycles dress lengths and the height of heels every few decades; this is true But when it comes to cities and buildings, that is not always the case.

One hundred and fifty years ago Niagara Falls was a small but thriving city, but over the years as people and businesses have come and gone some of the city sturctures have fallen into disrepair

One such building on third St was once the home of a piano salesman whose upstairs neighbour saw to the needs of the city's elite when they died. In modern day Niagara Falls the once posh building was crumbling and almost beyond repair.

But thanks to a caring new owner; not only has the yellow brick building been restored, it once again has been filled with the sound of music and art; while the upstairs has been turned into flats for rent

Relocating from its former location on Buffalo Ave, 24 Below Gallery and Cafe has reopened with fanfare and beauty. The split level gallery features works of art and other creations by local area artisans.

Visitors to 24 Below will find the walls adorned with paintings and photography; while floor displays feature more art, jewelry and other wearable art including bow ties, cards, dolls, soaps, stained glass, and even honey made by a local bee keeper. Every few months 24 Below will feature new works of art with a specific theme.

And just in time to unwind for the weekend, 24 Below sponsors an open drum circle on Friday nights that culminates in watching the weekly fireworks display.

Also on the lower level is a small cafe where owners Andrea and Tina will happily prepare beverages including wine, snacks, goodies, and small meals from scratch – healthy and vegetarian dishes are also available.

Only a few blocks from the Falls, located at 435 Third St. in Niagara Falls, New York, the 24 Below Gallery and Cafe is owned and operated by Andrea Meghan and Tina Galyn. The Gallery is open Thursday through Sunday beginning at 11am.
