A Guide to Playing Yahoo Games

Playing Yahoo games is fun, easy and mostly free! So there is little to lose from giving Yahoo a try at a game of your choice.

And what choice! You should be able to find a game from Yahoo that suits you. Its games cater for board, card, arcade, puzzle, video and multiplayer games. Essentially, they fall into two broad groups of down loadable and web games. The down loadable are usually those that might require a fee of some description.

To play the games, you will need to register first. The registration will require you to submit and original username and password. Do not submit your own name as your user name, simply because it will likely be taken if it is a reasonably unoriginal Christian name like Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Even if it isn't, then there is a fair chance that at least one of the Yahoo users will have used a standard name. As such, some sort of trendy nick-name would be appropriate, and possibly with some sort of number code at the end, should be acceptable. A check availability option is available, so you can use that.

When submitting a password, you will need to use a password that is both fairly original, yet also something you can remember. A large random number code would not be entirely suitable, unless you intend on writing it down. Choose something you will likely remember, but not too obvious.

With an acceptable user name, and password, you will have now officially registered on Yahoo games! On the home page, you will see a few game links available, as well a search facility. Make use of it, if you what to find out if Yahoo has a game you are interested in. Just type the name of the game in, and look at the search results.

Beneath that, you will the games categorized into web and downloadable. Click on go now, on the type you are most interested in. As mentioned, the downloadable games might not be entirely free, but the Web-based will be.

Down loadable games are more geared towards solo-play. Although fees usually have to be met, you can download a trial-version for free to see if you like the game. This is recommended beforehand.

For web games, they will usually have player lounges divided into skill levels. You can talk about the game to the other players in the multi-player games, which is usually fun. Of course, sometimes competition can boil over, so just remember it is just for fun.

Competitions are available, in Yahoo's All Star game competitions. These let you compete in leagues, or other tournaments. While you have to pay for this upgrade, a 14-day trial is available.

All things considered, Yahoo have plenty of games available. Be it for fun, or prizes you should be able to find something of interest.
