What is meditation? the term meditation is define as engaging in deep mental reflection, to contemplate, this practice is done through various techniques, lets continue to read below...

Meditation Practices

Meditation practices are used for clearing the mind, when our minds are clear we are able to view circumstances more clearly. We gain more prospective and are better able to make logical and practical decisions. Meditation frees your mind from negative projections or distortions that often color ones outlook. When our minds gain greater clarity, we begin to interpret fewer situations as “stressful” and therefore becomes less inclined to send unnecessary emotion-triggering signals to our body, for example the “fight or flight” response. Meditation practices connects you with your inner spirit or self, this is the calm center within you. This calm spiritual center is like a peaceful eye at the center of a hurricane. Your inner spirit helps you to remain more calm and centred throughout the day, thus preventing you from being blown about by the winds of adversity and change. Through meditation many deep inner changes occur, these changes have long term affects on your emotional well-being. In a threatening situation, your mind often signals your adrenal gland, these glands will begin secreting adrenaline. The adrenaline produces a feeling of fear or anxiety in your emotional body, readying you to protect yourself, either by getting yourself out of there or by confronting the situation.

A meditation for calming emotional storms:

• Sit yourself comfortable with your spine reasonably straight.
• Take a few moments to breathe naturally, always pay attention to your breathing, observe your breath coming in, filling you and also going out.
• Try to focus your attention on the emotions you are feeling. Simply feel the emotions, be as present as you can with them.
• Imagine the face of a radiant compassionate being, just sense or feel its presence, spend time communing with this loving being, just a few minutes, commune either mentally, aloud or just connect in silence. This being is your higher self or divine self.
• Then send your negative emotions to this loving being for healing. Allowing them to be healed and transformed.
• Slowly come out of this meditation when you are ready.

We all can become empowered and more in control of our lives. We will begin to realize that we don’t have to be a victim of the waves of our emotions, we are all able to grow spiritually from our meditation practices.

Very nice meditation practice which I will try forthwith. "This calm spiritual center is like the eye in the center of a hurricane" - how perfect a description!
