My look on today's games and what we can look forward to.

The last day

So here we are at the start of the last day at this London Olympics, it’s been an Olympics to remember, I envy those who are young it’s them that can look back in years to come and say “I was there” I can just remember the Olympic game in London in 1948 I was only 6 at the time so when I say I remember that’s about as much as I can say about it, but I am thankful, I was a small part of this Olympics and wow what an Olympics.

So much to see,with volleyball, wrestling, cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, water polo

Today we can look forward to the women’s modern pentathlon; the final of the men’s boxing, the final of the Men’s basketball and a whole lot more sports including volleyball, wrestling, cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, water polo and of course the closing ceremony.

I have to say The BBC have made a fantastic job of covering the games with their interactive video player a brilliant web page and 24 Olympic TV channels covering all the events live as well as BBC One and BBC three covering most of the games, and not to be left out, on the radio we had BBC radio Five-live, BBC Five-live extra and BBC Five-live Olympics, well done aunty BBC you deserve a gold medal yourself.

It's how you play the gme

I am reminded by the American poet Grantland Rice in his poem Alumnus Football

“You'll find the road is long and rough, with soft spots far apart,
Where only those can make the grade who have the Uphill Heart.
And when they stop you with a thud or halt you with a crack,
Let Courage call the signals as you keep on coming back.

"Keep coming back, and though the world may romp across your spine,
Let every game's end find you still upon the battling line;
For when the One Great Scorer comes to mark against your name,
He writes - not that you won or lost - but how you played the Game."

So three cheers to all the 74 countries that took part, there were winners and there were record breakers and there were heart breakers but no one is a loser in this XXX Olympiad, thank you London for the memory.

India won 2 silvers and 4 bronzes. It has improved its last tally in 2012. That is important.
