Weeping Willow

A painting that I did that reminded me of the church I knew growing up. It was famous for it's weeping willow on the front lawn.

As kids, we ran between it's billowy boughs after sitting so still for that hour in church. We played tag and make believe while grown ups shook hands and traded weekly stories over coffee.

Even as a young adult, I struggled, watching the children play, wanting to be with them, I wished I were kicking off my Sunday shoes and listening to my exasperated mother begging me to take care of my Sunday best.

But my rites of passage had begun and with confirmation came grown up actions.

So no more running round the willow for me.
Fond memories and imaginative stories live on and that willow lives on in me.
