Advantages of Digital Cameras

Digital photography has replaced the former film based photography. Many will no doubt recall the film based cameras, but now they are obsolete thanks to digital cameras which include batteries and LCD (liquid crystal display). Digital cameras and digital photography have a number of advantages for photographers.

Advantages of Digital Cameras

The digital cameras have gradually became smaller and smaller. As such, there are a variety of smaller compact cameras which are a good alternative to larger and more advanced camera models. Compact cameras are lightweight cameras that can fit within a coat pocket. These cameras are certainly at the forefront of digital photography as they are cameras that can provide solid photos and a range photography options.

It's worth noting, that digital cameras have also been merged with mobile phones. Mobile phones digital cameras are even smaller than the the compact camera variety. Although they are also usually more basic, with these mobile phones you do not necessarily need to have a specific digital camera model.

Digital cameras can store many more photos than a standard film based camera. There may be no requirement to replace even a smaller memory card as they can store more photos, and you can also delete any photos as well so that more can then be take even if you do take the maximum number of photos. So, digital camera storage is certainly another advantage.

Digital cameras can also have video recording options. Some cameras may also have short video recording options. So, who needs a VCR when some digital cameras have similar options?

One of the best things about digital cameras is that photos can be further edited and enhanced in a variety of ways. Previously, film based photos could not be edited and enhanced, but with digital cameras you can add your photos to a desktop or laptop. Then with digital photography software such as GIMP you can edit and further refine photos. There are a variety of software packages and the more advanced have lots of image editing options, while even more basic software packages such as Windows Live Photo Gallery also include a few handy options.

In addition to the image editing options, some photography software packages, such as Picasa 3 and Windows Live Gallery, may also include slideshow display options. With these software packages you can set up some great photo slideshows!

So digital cameras have numerous advantages. Smaller and more lightweight digital cameras, greater storage, mobile phone digital camera options, video options and a range of image editing software packages for your digital camera photos are just a few. As such, digital cameras have provided an exciting new range of photography options.

I do have a digital camera and I'd say it's a good one, but nothing can compare with the ones used by professional photographers. Has anyone seen one using a digital camera for its work? I haven't.
