A very tasty and very easy to make pasta dish. Great for the kids to pitch in and make for the whole family.

Baked Cavatelli

Prep: 25 minutes
Oven: 375 Degrees F
Bake: 30 minutes
Makes: 5-6 servings

7 ounces dried cavatelli or wagon wheel macaroni (about 2 1/2 cups)
12 ounces uncooked Italian sausage links, sliced 1/2 inch thick, or lean ground beef
3/4 cup chopped onion (1 medium)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 26-ounce jar pasta sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Cook the pasta according to the pasta instructions

2. In a large skillet cook the sausage, onion and the garlic. Cook until the sausage is brown and is no longer pink in the middle.

3. In a large bowl stir together the pasta sauce, 3/4 cup of mozzarella cheese, and the black pepper. Once mixed together add the cooked pasta, and the sausage mixture. Gently stir until combined together. Once mixed together, move the mixture to a 2-quarte casserole dish.

4. Bake, covered in a oven set at 375 degrees F for 25-30 minutes, or until heated all the way through. Uncover and add the remaining of the cheese and bake uncovered for another 5 minutes until cheese is complete melted.
