Review of the low-end blackberry, will it preform as well as some of the other popular phones on the market at the moment?

Box and Trackpad

For the price I got this at, this phone looks great! It is available in four colors, has a QWERTY keyboard and even came with two silicone cases in the box (light blue and black). Also included in the box was the charger, usb cable, manuals, drivers and earphones.

This phone also features an alternate to the 'Trackball' that is found on the most blackberrys, a 'Trackpad'. This does the same job as the 'Trackball' does but gives the phone a sleeker look in my opinion. This trackpad lays flat with the send, menu, escape and end key. This makes navigation, scrolling and texting easier.

Features

This blackberry is one of the cleanest designed of the business-phone family. Looks aside and looking further at the hardware, this phone does not include equally as good hardware as some competitors in the same price range.

Some of the main features of the 8520 include:
-Trackpad
-320 by 240 display
-256 megabytes of internal memory (equal in comparison to the 8900)
-1150mAh battery (whatever that means)
-2 megapixel camera, no flash
-Easily accessible media hotkeys
-Headphone Jack
-WiFi

Keyboard and Browser

The QWERTY keyboard on this phone makes it ideal for people who use Facebook or twitter on the go. The lack of 3G support put the slows surfing while your out, but it's still possible, just a little slower than the more expensive models.

Luckily, the phone has Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows you so search things at good speeds when you're on at wireless network.
Surfing the web in the browser is alright, not great though. It's better in comparison to my old phone: with its small screen and non-QWERTY keys.
Web pages look clear and to scale, but i really didn't like the need to zoom in to click on smaller links and the challenge some more advanced webpages were to navigate (i guess its something ill have to get used to). It added time where minimal was necessary.

Overall

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is a solid phone and i believe all the positives outweigh the negatives i have had with it. For a phone with good social-networking and multiple apps on board, with a QWERTY keyboard, make the 8520 a great option for the low price it sells for.
