Changing Your Concentration

It tends to be quite self-defeating to keep concentrating on what we wish we had ~ rather than being thankful for what we already have

Meaning Of The Word Concentrate

Merriam Webster's On Line Dictionary
offers this:
concentrate
verb con·cen·trate \ˈkän(t)-sən-ˌtrāt, -ˌsen-\
to think about something : to give your attention to the thing you are doing, reading, etc.

to cause (attention, efforts, strength, etc.) to be used or directed for a single purpose

From Sadness To Gladness

Think about what you've been thinking about the most lately. Try to limit your exposure to
violence and negativity on T V . Make it a point to be kind. As a reminder. you may want to post some upbeat positive sayings throughout your home as well as ~ deep within your heart.

In Our Creator's Wonderful Book of Teaching on Life and Love In the New Testament Book of Philippians ~ Chapter 4 ~ this is what we see ` and it would be helpful to

~~~~~ Meditate on These Things ~~~~~
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just, whatever things are pure,
whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report,
if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—
meditate on these things.
Perhaps not realizing that is counterproductive, many people tend to make a habit of comparing what they have or do not have ~ with that of others.
This negative type of concentration actually brings more discouragement.
Help Is Available To You From Your Creator
Take some time to organize your thoughts, and try to determine why you
focus on the negative as much as you do.
Many people have discovered that It helps greatly to ~ spend a certain amount of quiet time daily ~ in close fellowship ~ with the Creator of the universe in
Thankfulness to Him ~ meditating on the splendor of His Majesty.
If you will allow it ~ He will lift you up ~ from negativity.
Do your part. ~~~~~ Allow Him To Do It ~~~~~
This is a most timely word indeed dear Helen .
Thankfully my concentration is on those things which do not cause ' fuzziness ' in my thinking now ...and I am eternally grateful to be back on course again .
Thank you for reminding me of the importance of meditating on the splendour of God's Majesty ...and not on, less mundane thoughts .
God bless you always
Love in Him ...Stella ><
Thanks for your kind comments. ~ Stella.. I appreciate it.
Obviously changing what we concentrate on is not necessarily an easy task but ~ thanks be unto God Our Father, it is certainly doable over time.
May the blessings of the Lord rest upon you today and
always.
There is a Scripture that I really love that says: For whatever God says to us is full of living power: it is sharper than the sharpest dagger, cutting swift and deep into our innermost thoughts and desires with all their parts...
Hebrews 4:12 Living Bible (TLB)
Blessings to you.
Wow! I love this article so much and agree 100 percent! The Bible verse in Philippians is one of my favorites! In a nutshell, I try to keep in mind that the evil in this world will not last forever but God's love and all the good in this world is eternal! I also believe as you do that we should be thankful for all things and not concentrate too much on what we don't have!! God will provide our every need and knows what is good for us!! Thank you for being such a blessing to us all here on Wikinut!!
Negative things will always happen of course, but when they do, it is good to see the positive in every negative too.
A trip to the hospital, might lay us up for a week, or two, but then we have time to reflect, become more peaceful, and to meditate on the splendour of it all, as you tell us to do here.
Another encouraging article for everyone to read Helen, keep them coming!
