When choosing a vintage wedding dress, keep in mind that the vintage size runs smaller than today’s size. Most vintage garments won’t fit like today’s clothes. The biggest problem in selecting a vintage wedding dress is to find a gown that fits without too many alterations. If you can’t ensure the size is exactly perfect fitted, it’s better to go up a size that will be a little bigger. Later, the tailor can alter the gown to fit your figure perfectly. So when you are making your wedding budget, remember to include the fee to a tailor.

Color is very important for the vintage wedding gown. Usually, brides will choose white which is a traditional color and stands for purity and innocence. It’s true that most brides can look perfectly in white. However, this time needs more options to be worn in wedding. Different colors can create various charms of vintage wedding dresses.

Wonderful shades of romantic ivory, elegant beige, milky cocoa, sweet peach all accentuate nice complexion of bride’s skin. Tender pale gold, bright passionate red and sky blue are available for vintage style wedding dresses which are largely welcomed in era of 1920-1930s. Brides with brunette complexion can try snow-white vintage dresses, embroidered pink dresses or silver gowns. Blonde brides will look great in feminine blue, graceful grey, dreamy lavender and pretty apricot. Some brides may dye hair into some special colors before the wedding. And some brides have non-black hair inborn. Brides with brown hair are matching well with ivory, white, green, dreamy lavender and pink colors. Red haired brides can try all shades of cream, ivory and light taupe. Choose a color that won’t merger with the color of your skin and match the color of the groom’s attire.

The most popular fabric for vintage wedding dress is lace. Besides, other airy flowing fabrics, like chiffon, taffeta, lightweight silk, satin and organza, are all available. Skip heavy silks and velvet material which will restrict bride’s movements. In decorations, embroidery and floral pattern give vintage wedding dress special chic feelings.

I quite like the 1950's style of dress. 1920's dresses are too difficult to wear unless you are super-slim
