Discrimination is an issue prevalent globally in various ways against various people. It is important to realize the impact it can have on the development of the discriminated people.

Development Types

Vegetarian people have more specific diet and eat food of plant origins. They are also called as vegans. Different dietary habits make them susceptible to discrimination, which can affect their development. Following are the various possible development types which can get affected (Figure 1).

Economic development

Many times it is difficult for them to procure good job or rise in the hierarchy as they do not promote and consume non-vegetarian food. They may even get fired. This can make them economically backward.

Social development

In any field, non-vegetarian people are mainly in higher ranks. As a result, society considers people of vegan diet to be below status and ignore them.

Professional development

Their carrier faces lots of barrier because people ignore that vegans do not eat non-vegetarian food. As a result, vegans need to either forgo their career progress or get exploited.

Educational development

Many times, vegans are unable to get good education because the environment provided in the educational institutions favors non-vegetarians. For example, no separate mess for vegan food or no vegan food in hostels, cafeteria and canteens.

Physical development

Many times vegans sacrifice the healthy diet for their carrier and eat whatever vegan food available, which can severely affect their health.

Mental development

Hindrance in any of the above development can have severe impact on mental strength of vegans. They can lose confidence, and develop fear, which can lead to their downfall.

It is important to people should get sensitized to this issue, otherwise vegans will keep on getting discriminated and human rights violation will prevail. Decision is in our hands.

I would respectfully disagree. There are no limits to what a vegetarian can achieve. Being a vegetarian myself I know it is possible to be successful. Physical, mental, and educationally vegetarians are as capable as meat eaters, arguably more so because there is no vegetable version of CJD.

Thanks for comment.
I wholeheartedly agree with you, I am just trying to give certain ways discrimination may happen which may affect development.
Personally, I my self believe they may be equally or more capable and successful as compared to non-vegetarian.
