Dying Gradually

We are unwittingly and gradually destroying our environment that supports our very existence here on earth, and unless we stop the rhetoric, and start addressing the basic problems caused by man himself, then we may not have a future to hope for.

Man's Assault on Our Environment.

Last night, i woke up suddenly in the middle of the night with a pervading eerie feeling. The feeling was so sad that i decided to relieve the sequence of events in the dream, and guess what? i became even very sad when images came flooding back to memory, images that was a direct consequence of man's action on our environment. I saw water submerging lands, earthquakes, unbearable heat, disease, famine and deaths in a proportion never experienced in modern world. The scenario was so frightening.
Frankly, i was at a loss why i had that kind of a dream. How did it relate to me as a person? At a point, i figured out that it was a message to mankind. And the import and rightly so, was that our earth is dying gradually, and man unfortunately, the facilitator of this gradual demise. You know, sometimes i wonder, whether man is the most intelligent being on earth, because, intelligent people will not so brutally assault the very environment that supports and nourishes their existence. What really do we stand to benefit in the long run, when we recklessly exploit our habitat for purely economic reasons alone without considering the balancing act, and the side effects of our actions. It baffles my imagination.
Today, we glibly talk about the green house effect, depletion of ozone layer, climate change etc as if it doesn't matter. In other words, we pay lip service and less attention to these fundamental, and far reaching changes that may spell doom to the continuous existence of man on earth, if we do not wake up to the realities on ground.

Man may be intelligent at large in comparing with other creatures but not wise enough to realize the dangers of abuse of environment.

It needs collective wisdom to care for the planet.

Let us hope to strive for the better future.
