We must avoid killing and eating animals for our food needs. It is a great sin

Eating Animals

I am strict vegetarian from my childhood and never take any meat till today. Hope i never take it in the future too. I am not interested in taking non vegetarian items and killing animals and birds for our food sake. In my opinion it is a great sin to kill other living things like birds and animals for our food needs.

Different kind of people is having different kind of thoughts and opinion in this sort, some people may argue that eating animal is not a bad thing and we will compensate the sin of killing the animal by eating it as our diet. But this kind of arguments are not good and we don't have the rights to kill other animal and birds for our needs, since we are human and a living thing, so we must give importance to other living things and take a lot of care about them.

As we know lot of people is having their own pet birds and animals and giving a lot of love and care with it. This kind of people who is having their own pets also have the habit of eating animals and birds. I really wonder how they can eat the same pet animal/bird in their life? If you have lot of affection with your pet animal, then how can you take other animal from the same category as your food? Why don't you think about you are eating your same pet animal while taking your animal diet?

There is nothing wrong in having pet animals and training them in a good way to get benefits with it. But it is a great sin to grow up a bird or animal as our pet for our food needs. I know some people are growing this pets for their food needs, but unfortunately the pet don't know that the boss is growing it not with real affection but for his/her food needs.. How cruel it is?

Never grown up a pet for your food need and try your maximum to avoid eating birds and animals. Just consider they are also a living thing like us and we are in need to take a lot of care about this innocent pets. Now a days lot of person are turning as vegans after realizing the benefits of vegetarianism. If some person turned as a vegan after reading this post, surely i will be very happy. Give importance to other living things and don't kill them for your needs.

God established the food chain and gave us animals such as cattle, fish and birds to eat for the nourishment of our bodies. Those vegetables you eat were harvested while still alive so according to your logic you would only eat nuts that have fallen off of a tree and are no longer living. Have a steak my friend...it is not a sin. Even Jesus Christ ate fish.

I too am a life long vegetarian, and I thank my mother for this. Yet I do have to point out that she made the decision based on health reasons and that is the reason why I continue today. The religious aspect is one that will evoke many emotions.

In India I enjoyed being in the land of vegetarians, knowing that I had ample choice on every restaurant menu.

However I do not accept Tony Barnes philosophy about God creating the food chain with humans at the top.

To me every time I see issues about tainted/diseased meat then I am thankful for the life choice I have made.

All God asks, is for us to give thanks but, other than that, there is no sin attached. Every time I read about veggies carrying some kind of food illness that makes folks sick or even worse kills them, I am so glad I didn't have that salad.:)
Thank you for sharing.:)

Denise and Tony must remember they are talking of different faiths then our author Vidhya Prakash is talking of and lies the heart of this discussion.

In the east the faiths of Hinduism and Jane believe that you should not harm a living animal.

As a vegetarian, I find myself increasingly challenging myself in light of the position taken by by friends who are vegans. If no animal flesh, how do I (we) rationalize using/eating things made from the renderings of dead animals? It is not that I quest for perfection... but for a sensible and responsible life. I wonder if any of my veggie friends here at Wikinut might feel the same way? If so, I'd love to hear/read your thoughts on this.

David, I too do not eat meat. The question of using things made from dear animals is a complex one. Leather is by far the best material to use for shoes; plastic does not even come close and shoes made from cloth look so untidy and uncouth that I will not wear them. Interesting thoughts.

I think it is an individual preference - to be a veggie or not. However, I still recommend turning a veggie.
