Yes, I’m trying to get you out of the house this weekend and make an enjoyable trip during the beautiful fall season to my ‘neck of the woods’ and witness the fun and excitement as we share it...

34th Annual Unicoi County Apple Festival

Hopefully everyone enjoys the areas in which they live and yet many of us still love a little day trip or ‘get away’ occasionally. My area of upper east Tennessee is humming this week end with two major festivals. In Erwin Tennessee we are having the 34th Annual Unicoi County Apple Festival and the crowds are expected to exceed 110,000. That’s better than 5 times the local population. There is a road race for the runners, face painting for the youngsters as well as crafts and music to be enjoyed by all. The apple crops are being gathered, and the apple dumpling, cobblers and pies are in the making for all guests as this small town is rolling out the red carpet to one and all. Did I mention the apple butter? A local delicacy manufactured throughout the Mountain Empire using age old recipes passed down through families for generations and then shared by all, and often made the old time way in large copper kettles over an open fire.

39th Annual Story Telling Festival

Besides the large event in Erwin will be a festival of a completely different nature. The 39th Annual National Story Telling Festival in Tennessee’s oldest town, Jonesborough. This has become a National and International event and tens of thousands are also expected here. The two festivals are just about 20 miles from each other and both can be enjoyed easily during the same trip. If one was to take the back road, Tennessee Route 81, you could also enjoy the lovely fall trees as they start donning their fall colors, and halfway between Erwin and Jonesborough you pass parallel to the famed Nolichucky River, famous for tubing and White Water Rafting. Look for the sign, Cherokee Adventures and if you are adventurous and have a mind to, you might just be able to raft down the river as a side note.

You have a guide with you that knows the ropes...

Two local festivals in beautiful east Tennessee within miles of each other are calling out for recognition. Two large events that will leave you talking for months to come of the fun shared by the whole family. I hope that if you live within traveling distance this weekend you come and sample our hospitality and take home some of the local handmade crafts and delicacies’. They would make remarkable Christmas gifts to be shared with other family members and friends.

I would love to be there. My wife was trying to get me whitewater rafting this summer but I was worried about my glasses.

Its Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada this weekend, otherwise I would join you for sure.

FOR YOU AS YOU COMMENTED THERE

You, Lady Carol

Ma'am,
You bring tears to my eyes
the first commentator above
Thinks….
I am someone I am really not
She got me knocked off
From Triond and Wikinut
I just can't say why
an illusory mind....
Perhaps, sadly

she will still say again,
I am her ex or lover etc

what have I done on earth t
To earn her wrath
Except for poetry,
I see no commonality
.may she prevail upon her own,
as I am a Peoples poet

Love is my forte...
Love as in friendship
And not as they
Small minded folks think.
I am indeed indebted to you,
To have shed so much light
And
I do hope your voice is carried far and wide,
So that the Wikis and Trionds and others too
Can see jealousy can have only one friend.

Glad you wrote back
They had banned me and hope
You will reproduce this message,
In your columns
For those who love m,
As much as I do you all

I am an anonymous poet,
Only Anon me,
Is Loverme

Thanks all
Loverme

THANKS
