Five Things(?) I'm Extremely Thankful For Today

Sure it seems like shameless pandering to the holiday for any readaers I can find but, that's only because it is! I've no shame in admitting I need my readers. In fact, spoiler alert! They're on the list! Bear with my nearly tongue-in-cheek but completely serious gratitude list.

5. My readers, of course!

Ah, what the heck. Might as well give it up now. I'm beyond merely “thankful” for my readers. I've long and often said, “Having no money makes being a writer merely 'impossible.' Having no readers makes it pointless.”

4. Wool socks

This time of year, with the combination of melting snow on your boots and the constantly chilly stirring air outside, wool anything is a good thing. Wool socks are nearly a must! Wool socks will save your life. I don't care if real wool socks cost you five times as much as cheap tube or crew socks do. They're worth twice that much.

3. My health

Ah, health. Never can skip this one. We all tend to take good health for granted. All it takes for a small reminder, though, is one round with the flu or a bad cold. A sprained ankle has the same effect. Now, on recovery, imagine (not vividly) being one of those people who don't get to recover.

Oh the things we get to do not being bound to a hospital bed! The chance to take care of those relationships!

2. My kids

I'm extremely grateful for and terribly proud of, my kids. I know I've blown a lot and made a hundred mistakes but, it really is all for them. There are cycles in my family which must be broken. My kids deserve to have a chance to live lives of just normal, average people and not like something out of the trailer park.

I miss them but, I'm also extremely grateful they exist. It's hard to put into simple words.

1. Life, itself

Who isn't enjoying (even if it's a struggle) Life, itself? Sure sounds hokey, doesn't it? I don't buy into the standard, Western, Christian religious mindset, yet, just the fact I'm as alive as I can perceive, thrills me. Think of all the mega-quadrillions of people who've never had the chance to exist, in the first place? All the geniuses. All the fools.

Yet, here we are, you and I. For whatever time we have here, let's make some fun of it. For, like music, without fun, it's all been a waste of time.

May my Gods and Goddesses also bring you much to enjoy and be grateful for!

May every single reader of mine enjoy all which they wish for, barring none get hurt, unless it's justice. May every, single, lovely, wonderful - and might I say very handsome/hot/good-looking - who reads me win the lottery! (Retaining an accountant first, in order to manage and handle the money correctly.)

I like the thinking for most writers money has always been hard to come by but it is the audience that matters most.
