There are many ways to celebrate the beginning of a New Year. Here are a few ideas.

Greetings for 2011

The first days of Christmas have passed, the presents unwrapped, the family have gone home, and even the weather is warmer, as the snow has now beat a hasty retreat. Now we have New Year’s Eve to look forward to.

Some people like to go to parties, or host one of their own, being close to their friends to celebrate the dawning of a New Year. Others like to spend it with family, maybe having a quiet meal, and reflecting on what happened last year, whilst watching reminders on the television.

Years ago, John and I used to go to Trafalgar Square with our youngest daughter Andrea. There was such an atmosphere of warmth that night, and after Big Ben chimed the New Year in, it was so nice to have complete strangers shaking our hands, kissing us, and wishing us all the best. You could almost imagine with so much love around, there would only ever be peace and harmony in the future for everyone.

Nowadays I like to see the New Year in with my other half round the fire. We watch TV, sip our champagne, and I always start the New Year with hopes and dreams, which may never come true, but are still fun to plan. My grown up children will send texts at midnight, even if they are at a party, and we can wish each other the best for 2011.

I would like to wish each and everyone one of you a very Happy 2011, and may all your dreams come true.
