The restlessness we feel in our existence is due to our trying to balance the needs of the body, mind and soul. When we work towards this harmony and make it a way of life, we attain a state of bliss along with a higher consciousness of eternal journey, feeling part of the humongous creative process, and the responsibility that goes with it.

Individual yet Cohesive Path

How we live our lives depend on us and our approach decides our destiny. Some adapt to the vagaries of daily lives, others have a view – my way or the highway! Surprises are the norm with setbacks and the satisfaction in surmounting the obstacles. No one has an easy ride; the common man is stoic but the privileged get panicky at the first sign of dark clouds in the horizon. In our haste and anxiety to adapt and survive, we have to satisfy the needs of our body, mind and soul. Those able to attune their approach and harmonize the needs of all the three will enjoy a blissful ride. If they are in conflict we end up in misery and turmoil. The hard knocks of life cannot be taught; they are learned through personal experiences and reflection. The beauty is in the uniqueness of our path but also how we learn from others and the empathy we show towards those in need. Each should be given the freedom to pursue own path yet have to fall within society’s norms though we may stretch them to blaze a new trail for others to appreciate and follow.

Body Matters

We have different urges of our body at various stages of life – sometimes they decide our thinking and action. We have to course through the various stages, enjoying the ride doing justice to changing needs. Time and tide wait for no man and we too pass through the stages of life without a chance to return to replay them. Body takes precedence over mind and soul while young and one has to give it free play though in moderation! Some mistakes have no recourse and can cast a long shadow right through our journey. We need some luck too along the way to survive the setbacks.

Mind is a Monkey

Our mind is akin to a monkey – keeps jumping about at will. We have to allow free play but should know the limits. Our actions should be from considered view and not flippant to cause grief to others and finally recoil on us too. Words once out of our mouths cannot be taken back and damage control is the option to save the situation when gone overboard! Patience is needed for success. We can easily be led astray when we are carried away by the needs of the body alone, so mind has to extend a calming influence over our words and actions. Mind has also to be ever aware of the inner voice for guidance.

Soul is our true Identity

Ultimately our soul has to be the master of who we are. Taking a path that is not in consonance with the inner voice will leave a dark shadow over our lives not only here. Our inner conscience represents our soul and mostly it is in harmony with the humongous creative process reflecting the oneness of creation but also the uniqueness in each of us! We all have a distinct role to play and it is for us to find that through constant search and research delving into our depths to find out who we really are. It can well represent what the Creator expects from each one of us to do our part and that extends to all other species. When we reflect on the deeper meaning to our existence here, though on a brief lease, we get an inkling of what the whole creative process is about. Soul guides us; hence we should involve its presence in every thought and action of ours. Then we will be devoid of negativity. The ride will become bliss! We truly then play our part.

Perfect Union of Body, Mind & Soul

When we strive to achieve perfect union among body, mind and soul, we rise to a higher level of consciousness and existence. It should become a way of life and when our mind strays, internal warning signs signal to correct our path. The beauty is we all come with similar wiring but get carried away not to see the woods for the trees. We have to believe in an eternal journey or we will end up having a hit and run approach to life that will reduce our existence devoid of meaning ending up as a sham! The paths we take is only a means to an end of playing our part that we are always conscience of, however much we try to downplay its significance. Once we rise to the occasion of harmonizing the needs of body, mind and soul we feel the lightness of being, in perfect communion with creation and slip into eternity without a blink of an eye. Nothing will faze us anymore – we will rise with the tide and go with the flow of creation. And the path we set will draw others too and the drops will turn into a flood sweeping away those stuck at the cesspools of negativity, self-doubt, and pulling others down with them. The saving grace is the majority are striving for this harmony without them realizing it. The restlessness we feel is due to our trying to re-balance this need.

My mind is definitely a playful monkey at times, hard to control sometimes too, yes we need to keep things in harmony.

Yes Mark, we need to stop jumping about for sanity - mind should be more inspired by our inner voice than by what see and hear. We should make an effort towards that direction till it becomes a habit. A higher consciousness will lift us to another level of coexistence - siva

Thank you Carmen - balance is what we need in life, not excesses of few at the cost of others. The latter trend affects individual, society and our planet itself which has also to be nurtured by us taking on our role as co-creators - siva

Thank you Petra for such encouraging words and motivation. I am just an ordinary soul reflecting on our lives and the path we take. I believe our Creator made this abode of ours a true heaven, expecting us to elevate it further through our efforts, playing the role of true co-creators. Let us move to a level that we are destined for than blow up our chances once and for all with the karma that goes with it.

Having received unlimited blessings, I feel it is quite ungrateful of us to expect more in afterlife, if at all there is one - siva

Your words are so motivating, Jenny. I reflect on the path we take and wonder why the majority are taken for a ride by an ungrateful minority - we all deserve much better. There should be no place for hatred as creation is love - siva

To me easiest part to control is body, yet can we do that? I feel strange when my nails, hair and my skin don't listen to my command! I wondrer why with the passage of time my eyes losing its visionary power! Then I feel it is not me who control these all!!

Happy to read your comments, Karim. Aging cannot be reversed - it is a one way process despite the advances in cosmetology! But we should acquire wisdom along the way and age gracefully! I like to enjoy the ride and hopefully the human spirit to survive will carry our day both individually and as a society - siva

Thank you Rama-ji, when I post my articles I recall Phyl Campbell who once commented mine are like grains of sand, but on closer examination each is different! I like to dwell on the subject of life and share my experiences, sometimes lamenting why we are stuck within a cesspool hardly doing justice to our potential. Hopefully, a breakthrough is around the corner going by the adage - the darkest hour is before dawn. Namaste - siva

"Nothing will faze us anymore – we will rise with the tide and go with the flow of creation."

"The restlessness we feel in our existence is due to our trying to balance the needs of the body, mind and soul."

If we could do what you say in your last paragraph we would solve the problem you raise in your first.

A common sense approach to living siva, written with a sense that is not so common.

Restlessness to me is mainly about our lack of acceptance of the status quo. Balance is not so much an issue in our human bodies, because we were created to go from one end of the balance beam to another continually, with our soul as the balance point, or fulcrum, in the middle, in order to stretch our thinking feelings and all parts of ourselves in this way.

Thank you Spirited for your additional inputs and thoughts. I try to make sense of the reality of the moment to find balance through harmonizing the needs of the body, mind and soul. We often float on the high seas of life, drift, and it is up to us to steady ourselves - we are given much leeway to find our position. Sometimes what we strive for is not worth it and where we find ourselves in are more to our overall comfort. I am astonished at the layers of life that we can fit in to suit our needs.

Happiness is after all a state of our mind; we should enjoy what we have rather than going after more and more with no end; we come nothing and leave with nothing - so a life lived for others will soothe our soul when we bid goodbye - siva

Dear Siva, happiness is a state of mind which is the result of the harmonisation of the mind, body and soul. The person who's really happy is the one who has all these three elements working in unison - any other happiness can only be superficial and transient.

Thanks dear Subra for crystallizing the essence of happiness. As is said, real smile is reflected in our eyes and not by baring the teeth! Let us nurture all the three as we finally leave with the soul as our permanent companion - siva
