Most of us seek advice for dealing with hair loss and to color hair when it no more suits the skin complexion.A few tips for dealing with hair loss as well as coloring of hair have been discussed here.

A note of CAUTION !

Natural henna - created by grinding the henna plant to make a paste or powder - is traditionally used to paint temporary skin decorations on women's hands and feet.
Allergic reactions to natural henna are rare. But when it is mixed with toxic chemicals,
such as PPD and benzene, it can be harmful.

Hair-dye manufacturers have a warning on their packaging about black henna,or any other toxic chemicals used in it.
So, check for the ingredients or warnings before buying the pack.

Henna for Hair

Most of us know about henna as a color dye, giving a golden brown color for hair when dyed. But henna can even dye the hair with its natural color or black giving nourishment for hair. You may prefer to go with the tips below which are easy to prepare and use and are natural home remedies for many of the problems your hair undergoes.

For dyeing your hair with a natural color, the ingredients are :
1. 2 cups of Henna
2. 1/2 cup of gooseberry powder
3. 2 table spoons of Shikakai (AcaciaConcinna) powder
4. Egg white (from 1 egg )
5. 2 table spoons Lemon juice
6. 1 table spoon of basil leaf powder
Mix all these powders and then add this mixture to a cup of tea decoction which is prepared by brewing a table spoon of tea powder in a glass of water.
This makes a fine paste of the mixture which has to be soaked overnight.
Apply this paste the next morning and wait for an hour so that the paste gets to the root hair ,bind to your hair strands and the required nourishment is given to the scalp as well as hair.
Go for a shower and see the difference in your hair after you dry it.You will find your hair look darker and shiny.
Hair loss can be dealt with this mixture as it makes the roots of the hair stronger.
You may prepare this mix occasionally and apply it to have a dark shining hair.

Loss of hair may occur due to low nourishment and pollution which can be dealt by the following :
1. Boil 1/2 cup of sesame oil.
2. Add 5 cups of Henna powder to it and let it boil for a few minutes.
3. Leave the mixture to cool. Store it later.
Apply this mix to your hair every alternate day. You need to wait for 1/2 an hour before washing your hair.
This will give a natural home remedy for the hair damage due to pollution.

For Smooth and Silky hair

Some times you'll find your hair dull and dry.Theses are signs of low nourishment for your hair and you need to take care to remove the dryness.
For this all you have to do is :
1. Add 2 cups of Henna powder
2. 1/2 cup of gooseberry or Amla powder
3. 1/4 cup of Fenugreek powder.
Add a cup of curd to this mix to make a fine paste and let it soak overnight.
Apply this paste to your hair the next morning and let it dry for 1/2 an hour. Have a shower. You will find your hair smooth and shiny after you dry it. This can be applied occasionally, whenever your hair becomes too dry and looks dull.

Dry hair due to seasonal change

The above method can be followed, even when the hair becomes dry due to seasonal change. During rainy season especially, women tend to lose a lot of hair due to the dryness in hair. This can be prevented by applying conditioners or hair oil.
Its highly necessary to comb hair and plat your hair if possible, after applying oil than to leave it to dry, which allows your hair to be smooth and conditioned.

Hair loss occurs, in temperature extremities i.e., our hair can't tolerate too high or too low temperature and thus, it starts falling when there is seasonal change. So, we need to be cautious about any such changes and take precautions whenever there will be change in season or when we need to change our location, may be due to traveling.

More about Henna

Henna has been used as a cosmetic hair dye since ages as it is natural herb similar to turmeric which is used as antiseptic for skin ailments mostly.
The color that results from dyeing with henna depends on the original color of the hair, as well as the quality of the henna.Henna can be mixed with other natural hair dyes.

Some products which are being sold as "henna" include other natural dyes which may also include metal salts that can interact with other chemical treatments, or oils and waxes that may inhibit the dye, or even chemical dyes which are common allergens.
Any product that comes in a cream, block, or paste form has some sort of additives.

So, you need to be cautious about the use of henna or products related to it.
Its unsafe to use Henna, if your allergic to it. Your skin may have a red rash or itching when applied on hands or palms. So, use it only if your skin permits.
Some people may be deficient of some sort of Glucose called the
glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) which may cause their red blood cells to burst on applying henna.
So, better be cautious about it, and use it only if you have no side effects.
