We all need indoor or house plants to add color and texture in our homes interior and these few tips will come in handy for your home enjoyment. When it come to buying house plants from any local garden or supplier there are things you need to put into consideration. Do not just pick up house plants without making the correct decision especially if they are the cheap types.

Always remember that house plants can actually give you a lifetime enjoyment if they are properly inspected before you purchase them. Hurriedly chosen plan can end up affecting the existing ones in your house; take this as a valid gardening tip.

All you need to do is to inspect the leaves on the house plants for pests which include and not limited to spider mites and aphids since they can start spreading to the other plants once you get the m home. Look under the leaves and node where these are known to thrive. For your potential plants, try and look the following:

Those green or black insects called aphids are found on buds and new growing parts. They are known to suck house plant juice or sap while secreting honeydew which makes your house plants unhealthy.

Look also for spider mites which are small insects appearing like while specks underneath the house plant leaves. They usually form webs just like a spider web around the affected areas of the plant.

The other house plant infection is the scale which appears like tiny brownish oval shaped bumps which can be found on the house plants’ stems and leaves. This destructive insect derives its name from its protective cover and it produces honeydew which is a clear sticky substance which prevents the breathing system of the house plants.

The internet is known to be a source of gardening tips especially on how to treat house plant pests. You should not gamble with your house plants and knowledge is better at hand.

On the other hand if you see a big plant in a small container or pot, do not even think about it, the roots might be bound. Most reputable stores or garden will remove the plant from the container for you to inspect the root ball. Buying a root bound house plant will make you spend more buying a larger container and soil for the roots. Re-potting does not guarantee you of a healthy house plant neither.

If you are traveling type of a person, a self watering container will come in handy but you need to ensure that the house put or container is not cracked/ when purchasing your plants think of grouping in terms of shape, size and color. This way, you will be able to enjoy your house plants all the time.
