Host Your Own Website For No Cost

Have you ever wondered how you can host your own domain name and website? Read this article, I will explain how you can do this without spending a dime on web hosting and domain registration. Follow these few easy steps and you can have your website up in a matter of 30 min or less without a dime being spent. The links will be included in the article and displayed after the article; these are the steps and software I use to host my web forum, and blog. This is a great way to host your Wordpress blog for free!

“However I do recommend some knowledge of setting up DNS servers and database to run wamp and apache.”

The first step I took is downloading wamp (http:// www.wampserver.com/en). After I downloaded wamp I run install and follow the steps. The steps are really self-explanatory they also automatically set up where the folders need to go so there is no relocating and making folders. Wamp is now set up, now go down to the taskbar and you should see a little wamp logo by where your time and date is displayed, click on the wamp logo put it online, now your server is online. Ok now where to put your website- folder, open up your C: drive and look for wamp it’s a folder down towards the bottom, open up the folder and you’ll see a folder named www that’s the folder that you put all your website files and folders in to be able to show your website online.

Go back to your wamp logo in the taskbar click once and click on phpmyadmin, this will open up your admin area to control and create all your data and DNS files, the other thing I want to Mention is below the phpmyadmin there is a link called “LOCALHOST” click on it and you will see all your files and more controls for your hosting. Now you can develop any type of function scripts, php scripts, and more without purchasing any kind of service.

Second step I did was downloading apache server, go to (http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi) to download. This is a short step, you need a free and clear webserver since one is not included by default with windows you need to take this step so it can work inline with wamp. You can also try Abyss here is the link (http://abyss.sourceforge.net/) Abyss is good if your running Linux it gets the job done nicely. I have tried both apache, and abyss, I like apache.

Ok now the third step I did was getting a hostname…this is by far the easiest step if your running Linux then you will have to install manually the noip client….they have a windows installer. Go to (http://www.no-ip.com/index.php) and sign up. Next choose the domain name you prefer, next download the noip client from the download tab or this direct link here (http://www.no-ip.com/downloads.php).

Now you are all set up and ready to start building your website and not even have to spend a dime. Here’s a open source web development software that I use along with millions of others. Its right up there with Dreamweaver, best thing is it’s free! Aptant here’s the link (http://aptana.com/).
