It is a must for any Wordpress powered sites to change the default "admin" username in order to protect the security of their websites. Here is a guide on how to successfully do that

Changing the Default Username "Admin"

Changing your WordPress username is one of the must needed actions you need to perform in order for you to protect your website from hackers, especially if you have registered the default username “admin”. I searched and tried a couple of guides and I found this one working perfectly. You need to have access to PHPmyadmin and it is so easy and safe.

Here is the Guide:

Note: Don’t worry if you think this is scary, this is a step by step guide, just don’t get lost.

1. Look for and click phpMyAdmin by logging in to your cPanel and scrolling down to the databases section.

2. Choose the database where your blog is hosted.

3. On the left hand side you need to click on the table wp_users. On the username you need to edit, just click edit.

4. Now, change the user_login to whatever value you want. Example: If your registered username is ‘admin’ you can change it to whatever username you want.

Just press the Go button and that’s it! As simple as that.

Finally, check it by going back to your site by logging in with your new username.
