You can embed Youtube videos into your wikinut articles by following these five easy steps.

Embedding Youtube vodeos into your wikinut articles.

Wikinut friend Carol wrote recently that she has yet to learn how to embed videos into her articles. Carol, this is for you, in five easy steps:

1. Log into Youtube, and type in their search bar the category of videos you want to check out, for example: "Occupy Wall Street videos". Then select one of the videos and watch it to see if it fits with your article.

2. In the very top bar on your computer, you will see a code for that particular video. It could look something like this: Htk5EB7t=ChEdD7U8K=6yPt

3. Highlight all the letters and numbers in the code that fall between the two = signs. If there is only one = sign, highlight all the letters and numbers to the right of it.

4. While holding down the control key, type c, and then go back and bring up your article. Where you want the video to appear, hold down the control key and type v. The code you highlighted will now appear.

5. To the left of the code, insert a square left parenthesis, which is next to the letter p on your keyboard, and then type the letters yt, and then a right square parenthesis.
Next, just to the right of the code, type a left square parenthesis, and then /yt, and then a right square parenthesis. (I have to explain it this way because typing in the square parentheses cuts off the rest of this article).
Your video will now be embedded.

Steve if you read the Advanced Formatting tips (one of those little annoying notes that often tags along on publication notices) it will show you how to embed html code in your article to show it in a picture sort of thing...

Even though Mark has already done a tutorial in this subject, this will be helpful to new Wikinutters who don't read the helpful notes the moderators affix to their publication emails and don't the "Helps." What would have turned a good article into a great article would have been the use of screen clips to illustrate your instructions..

Happy Holidays Steve.

Well I know that Carol had been good enough to send me details, but I was too much of a wimp to try it out! When I did, I couldn't get it to work, but that was because I thought that you had to go through 'Link'on Wikinut..lol..Think I have it sussed now as the penny has finally dropped as they say! LOL!

Steve: I managed to bring up a video of Edith Pilaf straight onto one of Wikinut pages. Here is the website:

Please let me know if you know how I did this.

I know there's more than one way to do it, but I don't knw how you managed it. Thanks for your comment, Ivyevelyn. Edith Piaf, wow! I saw her perform at the Hollywood Bowl back in 1965.

Steve: That's the problem, I don't know how I did it. Would you please look at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0RlxpS_zik&feature=related and see what you think of the web I used. Also, I hope I am not violating any rules. Maybe, now I have done it once, I don't need to do it again - jist bring up any videos. Help!

I've been looking for a way to inbed video in wikinut like this and glad, thankful for this Steve. It seems the direction is a bit difficult, but I'll try to learn it. All my postings are running video-less.
