How to Feel Better about Yourself

It is important to seek recognition within yourself, and not in others, because you cannot spend your whole life looking for the approval of others, as it is usually a waste of time. This is not to say that you do not need friends, or love interests, but it means that, sooner or later, we have to accept the way we are, and only try to improve what we can, without trying to be something we are not.

Introduction

Every day we wake up, and every day we look into the mirror, and we see the person staring back at us. We are either satisfied with that person, or we feel and see something that needs improvement. And there are certainly many things, as no one is perfect and one should always strive to be a better person, a nicer friend, or a more dedicated spouse, and if you are feeling lonely or feeling insecure, know that those are only smaller things that do not define you, and there is a lot that you can do to be happy.

Stay positive and deal with your fears

Remember that nobody’s life is perfect, and that those who portray their life to be that are usually hiding the things that annoy them, so it is really important not to compare yourself with others. There are always going to be people who are taller, richer or better-looking than you, and if you spend your life thinking you are not good enough, that is a one way ticket to unhappiness. Find the things that you love and that you are good at. While this might sound hard, it is extremely important. Trusting yourself and your abilities is the key to being confident, so try and find the best lesson wherever you turn. Be patient with yourself, and do not let anything or anyone hold you back. Speak up, and try to stand up to those who are trying to put you down. Try and dismiss all the negative feelings, and know that it will be better, while trying to face your fear heads on, knowing that once you deal with them, you will come out stronger.

Invest time into friend and family

The importance of other people in your life cannot be emphasized enough, and you need to realize that. Talk about your problems and share your thoughts with the people you trust. Also try and be there for them in their time of need, and learn what it means to have a friend and to be a friend. Family is a circle of people who are extremely close to you, and they do not have to be related by blood to you - they are people who have always been there for you, and who have many times shown that they love, appreciate and support you. Create that circle for you, and no one will be there to stop you.

Care about your appearance and love yourself and your life

It is important that you organize your life, and find time for everything that will make you happy. Dedicate time to yourself and your needs, but also think of others, and always dedicate a part of your day to spend it with your friends. Be confident about yourself and know that your physical appearance can easily change, so take care of your hygiene, your hair, face and teeth. Make time and frequently visit your doctor and your dentist, as health is a big part of happiness, or at least a major building block of it. Invest in yourself in any way that you can, buy clothes that fit you, visit a hair salon more often, exercise more or whiten your teeth. All of these things will give you extra energy to continue, and can be excellent confidence boosters, which you can use to advance in your work field or some other area of your life. Remember to have fun, whatever you do. Life is shot, but can be extremely exciting and filled with things and people you enjoy. Make sure to separate that which is important from that which is not, and eliminate things that are trying to prevent you from achieving your ultimate goal – happiness.
