Being online takes a lot of internet threats, here are some tips to keep protected.

How to Protect Yourself Online: Tips on Internet Security

Internet comes with so many advantages that we can benefit from, but we cannot deny that we are also vulnerable to disadvantages like the internet threats. Here are some reminders to avoid them:

1. Keep it habit to change password regularly either for personal email address or password on social media networking sites.

2. E-mail or chat hackers are very rampant, if you receive a message that has a different tone of conversation, be doubtful and confirm the situation through mobile or other social media site where you are both members.

3. As much as possible, do not use public computers such as in net cafe. If you will use other computer especially on public, there are keyloggers which are threat to privacy. A keylogger is a small piece of software or spyware that logs all the computer keystrokes you made that records all e-mail, instant messages, and website you visit. These keylogs can be sent to a third party recipient.

4. Never give personal details online including social security details and money matters, if cannot be avoided ask the recipient to delete your message one copied.

5. Consider installing a firewall or internet virus spam defender.

6. Separate personal email address from other online accounts. Avoid using your personal e-mail on various websites to avoid receiving spam or unwanted emails.

7. Do not let the children unattended and monitor their online activities. If you are using the same computer, they may click unwanted links.

Let us be wise and make the most of technology while protecting ourselves online.
