How to Turn Your Windows PC Into a Wireless Hotspot?

By turning your PC into a personal wireless hotspot, you can increase the productivity of your workgroup. The network connection can be shared and the bandwidth can be very much enhanced. Most of the current generation notebooks, tablets and smartphones are coming with preloaded wireless hotspot. If you go for a special application given by the manufacturer, you will not want to go for additional routers to offer hotspot facility.

A shared internet connection can be established from your computer. The utility and productivity of fee-based internet connection is extended with shared connection. The sharing will be very quickly from one location. The status can be checked and shared connections can be disconnected from one location. All these benefits can be enjoyed with the creation and maintenance of a hotspot.

Alternative access to wireless

By going for a PC with wireless hotspot facility, you will not want to go through the complexity of setup of a wireless router. A number of mobile devices can be shared through the shared Wi-Fi shared connection. Wireless access to all the devices will be provided so that you can run a small business as well. All the PDAs will be connected to the hot spot and the communication will take place in a very efficient way.

You should choose the most appropriate software application so that your desktop will be converted into Wi-Fi hotspot very easily. The internet connection can be shared among friends, mobile devices and other wireless devices. The connectivity of a virtual hotspot router will be very useful and it can be used while moving from one location to another location as well.

The connection will be established across iPads, kindles, smartphones and other Wi-Fi enabled devices in an effortless manner. The devices that you use on daily basis can be connected in this manner.

Creation of a hotspot

In order to create a Wi-Fi hotspot, you should download and install the appropriate software tool. You should name the hotspot during the configuration so that other devices will be able to connect with the hotspot with that name. A unique password should be given to the hotspot so that the security aspect will be addressed. If you choose WPA2, the hotspot will be safe and secure. Sharing your laptop’s 4G through hotspot

If your laptop is connected to powerful 4G dongle, you might want to share the internet connection from laptop. You can perform the operation by downloading a piece of software as explained in previous paragraphs or you can go for command line interactions so that the hotspot can be established. You can download the free software so that these steps can be performed very easily.

After installing the router, the virtual router can be started. The custom name or SSID can be changed at any time as per your needs. As you start the virtual router, all the devices connected to it will be listed. You will find the IP address and MAC address so that complete control can be exercised. Even though you will not get as many functions that you would get through a Wi-Fi router, you will be able to perform many tasks in an effortless manner. An internet connection to your smartphone or tablet can be established very easily.

If you are not interested in downloading the available free software, you can go through the command line approach so that a virtual router can be created.

You can type the following lines in the command line:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Uniquename key=password

You should choose the SSID in place of Uniquename mentioned above. You should choose the password in the key section.

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

The above command is entered to start the hosted network.

You should make change to the adapter settings:

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Centre > Change Adapter Settings

Right click on Internet Connection
Select Properties
The sharing tab should be selected and you should check ‘Allow other network users to connect’ and the Wi-Fi adapter name should be picked up.

Thus, you can establish Wi-Fi connection to other devices.
