If you are ready to be a freelance writer, to be successful you must know a few tips.

Freelance writing

Freelance writing is easier than ever with the internet. To be an accomplished writer takes much more than writing a few articles. It will take time, dedication and a strong ego. Online freelancing is extremely popular. To be a success you have to stand out above the rest.

Finding a website

There are several websites that are a great start for the writer who is not yet established. Researching the internet is the best place to start. You will find many sites such as: Helium, Wikinut and RedGage. These sites allow writers to submit articles on almost any subject. The article is quickly published. It takes time to build a portfolio of articles. Once you have a substantial library of articles, getting paid is soon to follow.

Know your material

An online writer must know the website’s criteria. Most online websites require AP style writing. Take your time to learn what each website is looking for in order to be a dominant writer in your field. Always cite your sources, plagiarism will be your downfall. You want to put out quality articles, not quantity. An online freelance writer with great articles will get contacted for more work.

Market yourself

A freelance writer needs to know how to market him or herself. There are several types of social media a successful freelance writer must employ in order to flourish. One of the best tools is creating your own writing blog. This allows you to write anything you want and talk about where you are published. In addition you will want to use: Twitter, Facebook, and Social Marker, just to name a few. Research what SEO’s are popular and use them in each article. This will help your articles get more hits.

Rejection

You will have to grow a strong spine and get used to rejections. Writing is very subjective. Each editor is looking for a certain style of writing, you cannot take it personally. You will spend countless hours writing. Not every article will be a success.

You are a writer

When you finally get yourself published, keep copies of your articles. Each will be useful to a unique type of website. Build your portfolio to create your freelance resume. The internet is a great tool to get started and search for both paying and non paying gigs. It is now in your hands how you want to define your accomplishment.

Thank you Jerry! I was thinking about you with your camera. Check out RedGage if you are a photographer. You can make a bit of money on your photos!

Great Article and thank you for following me.

Learning and recording what each site wants and can offer, will allow you to quickly format your existing work into a unique form for each site.
