Software that begins on start-up can slow Windows down. This is not just when Windows is starting, but more generally as having more software open will limit system resources. As such, by removing start-up software from starting you can enhance how quickly Windows starts. Overall, there are a few ways that you can disable Windows start-up software.

How to disable programs from running at Windows startup

To begin with, it is worth noting the right hand side of the Windows task-bar. Here, there are a number of icons which are icons for Windows start-up software. The first way you can close Windows start-up software is to right-click these icons. When you do this, there is usually an option to close, or exit, the software. Select this option and the software will be closed, and then there is less software running.

However, these does not prevent the software form beginning at start-up. To prevent software from beginning at start-up the first way is to open some of the software that is on the tool-bar. Then, you can check out some of the software options, and an option along the lines of: start software at start-up. If you find an option along these lines, then un-select the option and it will no longer begin when Windows starts.

However, not all the start-up software will necessarily be listed in the task-bar. As such, to find a list of all the start-up software you will need to go to the Windows Vista control panel and select change start-up programs. From here, Windows Defender will be opened which lists the software that starts with Windows.

Windows Defender has a few options for start-up software. You can select some of the start-up software and then it may have the option to remove it if it is not essential start-up software. After selecting the software select the remove software option and it will not begin with Windows.

Aside from this, if you have an alternative operating system to Windows Vista which does not have something similar to Windows Defender, then similar software can still be installed. There is a number of freeware Windows start-up software that can assist with managing start-up software. For example, software such as Start-up Manager 2.4.2.

So, these are a few ways that you can remove start-up software from Windows. Firstly, be selecting the appropriate option from the software itself, secondly via Windows Defender, and thirdly with start-up management software which will also include options for removing the start-up software.
