The origins of Guinness and how to pour the perfect pint

This truly artistic beverage was first brewed in 1759 in James Gate Dublin Ireland and is a must visit for anyone visiting Ireland.

St James Gate Brewery leased by Arthur Guinness at 45 pound per year in 1759 is known as the home of Guinness. He must have had confidence in his brew for his lease runs for 9,000 years and it seems he was right, for in 1838 his brewery became the largest in Ireland and in 1914 the largest in the world.

Guinness is an acquired taste and should be savored without rushing. The drinking and pouring of Guinness is just as important as the brewing process. Anyone who has tried Guinness and not enjoyed it has probably not poured it correctly. If a barman is pulling your pint watch him closely and make sure he pours it the proper way. Let him know that pouring Guinness is an art form and should not be rushed and if necessary copy these instructions and hand them to him.

Pouring the perfect Guinness

This is an art form and should take exactly 119 seconds and should be served at a temperature of 43 degrees F or 6 degrees C

1) Hold the glass at exactly at an angle of 45 degrees

2) Pull or pour your Guinness into the glass until full

3) Allow the beer to settle until a brilliant white foaming head forms.

4) Continue to pour until the head rises above the rim of the glass.

5) Gently lift glass and raise to lips making sure your arm is at an exact 45 degree angle.

6) Hold glass in this position for 5 seconds allowing the aroma into your nostrils

7) Taste Swallow

9) Enjoy

Have a great one

That is a wonderful step by step explanation about how to enjoy Guinness! Though I have never tried Guinness I mostly follow the similar pattern when enjoying other Beers! Thanks a lot for the lovely article dear Steve!
