How to start the day on the right note?

The day may be a long and a tough one, but you can breeze through the day if you start the day on the right note. The question how do we accomplish this task. It may seem difficult at first, but it is not an impossible task.

This article is about things that you can do to start the day on the right note.

Get up early

Go to bed as early as possible. When you start the day early, you will have enough time to awaken your body and mind.

Do not stay up late especially during weekdays when you know you have to get up early in the morning. When you get up late, you will rush into things and end up being stressed and anxious.

Do not jump out of bed in a hurry and rush into things. When you hurry as soon as you get out of bed you will not feel relaxed.

Breathing

After you sit up on your bed, breathe in and breathe out for a few minutes concentrating on your breath and not thinking about anything else. Deep breathing rejuvenates the mind and body and helps you relax. Being calm and composed helps you to breeze through the day.

According to the American Institute of Stress, breathing is a “Super Stress Buster” that helps to relax

Meditate

Meditation keeps your mind calm and focused. It reduces stress and anxiety and helps you to start the day on a positive note. Get up early so that you will have time to meditate at least ten minutes in the morning before you start your day.

The benefits of meditation are many –

**Decreases anxiety
**Improves emotional stability
**Increases creativity
**Helps the mind to focus
**Mind becomes clear and free of stress

Meditation helps you to kick start the day in a calm, positive and clear state of mind.

Exercise

Exercising stimulates the brain chemicals that make you feel happy and relaxed. Being happy and relaxed at the beginning of the day will tide you over through the rest of the day.

Exercising puts you in a feel good mood. Exercising will keep you energized and ready to handle the day. When you exercise, your fitness level will improve and you will be able to handle tasks of the day without being exhausted.

For example, you may have to climb up to the fourth floor because of a power outage or because the elevator has broken down. When you are physically fit, you will be able to climb up the stairs easily without a struggle.

You never know what the day may throw your way to test your physical fitness level. Moreover, your body will be in a great shape when you follow an exercise regime.

Never skip breakfast

Never skip breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast kick starts your body in the morning and refuels your body to get through the day. Breakfast increases your metabolic rate and helps you to burn more calories. If you skip breakfast, you will start the day feeling tired and hungry.

Your breakfast should be low in carbohydrates and high in protein. Wholemeal bread, peanut butter, cereal, eggs, greek yogurt, strawberries, blueberries, oatmeal, are all healthy options to include in your breakfast.

Plan for the Day

Spend a few minutes in the morning on thinking about what you have to do for the day and plan ahead. Preparing for the day will help you to go about the day at a relaxed pace instead of rushing from one task to the next. Do not take on more than you can handle. If you stretch yourself way beyond a limit, you will feel exhausted and tired before the day ends.

Start the day on a positive note. Do not carry over anger or ill-feelings from the previous day. Let go and you will feel relieved.

Keep telling yourself – “Today is a brand new day, and things are going to work out fine!” and start the day on the right note.
