It is all about Halloween traditions in other country. This informs the reader all about the difference in celebrating the Halloween in either religious way or spooky and fun way. Some informations about traditional Halloween beliefs and the importance of this celebration.

Traditional Halloween Preparations (Philippines)

Halloween is celebrated each year every October 31st which is a National Holiday. It is a week of celebrating and commemorate our loved ones that has passed away. It is a tradition and its also on this month where it gets cold and people is waiting for December to come. The families gather and usually prepares food and held a dinner celebration at the cemetery for overnight stay. The elderlies usually spend their time praying beside the graves of their loved ones. Young groups put up tents and stroll around the cemetery playing ghost hunting, play cards, and singing songs. Flowers and candles is the main attraction in celebrating All Soul's Day. Little kids and some families earn money by cleaning, repainting the graves, and pullings weeds. Fruit stand vendors is commonly seen outside cemeteries as well as food stands.

Why is this celebration important to families? and a glimpse on some beliefs being practiced.

Its a special day to remember the dead, and remember them in a special way. It is also the time of the year that families should visit their graves or else they will be haunted. Family members that works far away rushes to have a trip to go home and must not miss the celebration as possible. If a family member can't visit the graves, they should offer their prayers in the big cross and light candles. There is also food offering for souls, families prepare the favorite dish of the dead and offers a piece of it on their graves. Before October 31 the families offers prayers on the start of October after dinner. After each prayer a snack treat for the soul is also being offered in the altar with the lighted candles and flowers. It is believed that souls will eat by taking all the smell of the food. It is also the time of the year when some restless souls is believed to be scaring people in some way specially those who seeks justice for their death. That is why it is very important not to forget offering flowers, candles, and prayers. And before leaving the cemetery after the celebration it is a belief to light a dry grass and jump over the smoke to keep the souls from following you at home.

I'm in a new country now, and I have to celebrate Halloween this year differently. But sure I will send my prayers to our loved ones that passed away. Our traditions may seem like really different but one thing I know, we celebrate Halloween in a very meaningful way.

hi rahmanali,,thank you that you liked it.It is believed that souls won't harm the families but since they are dead souls they could make little children sick, like fever and colds. It happened to me before. Its superstitious but its true.
