Camping is a pleasant experience in life. If you live in camps which are generally set up in far flu g hilly terrains of the locality for a considerable of time ,it becomes really tough to pass the days in the winter season. If the place where the camps are set up is located in cold region is really troublesome for the campers.

Introduction.ter

I have undergone an experience in staying at camps which were located in a distant place of sub-divisional headquarters in the hilly region. the place was at the foot hills of the Kanchenjungha ,a part of the Himalayas . The camps were organized in the month of December to February in the winter season . The temperature was so cool that it was very difficult to pass the cold days. during the day and night time. It was a settlement training camp organized by the state government for in-service training of the civil officers .The camp lasted for two and half months . We had to stay at the tents which were nicely set up serially in a row. after row.. Two trainees occupied a tent . .The settlement training camp was under the charge of a superior officer. .He was strict disciplinarian . Under his strict guidance , we had to follow the rules and regulations in the camps. We had to get up early in the morning . We had to reach the fieid training camp and make attendance sharp at six. The settlement fields were situated about six kilometers from the camp. We had to go to the field by bi cycles .In the field training , no full trousers were allowed In the morning winter cold ,it was really tough to withstand the cool atmosphere. Only short trousers with a bicycle make us so feel cold in the morning deepens the crisis. It is needless to say that the field training was a must to attend. The field training used to last for six hours . At noon we had to return from the field and take bath in the camp . Thereafter lunches were served in a large tent. After half an hour rest , we used to attend training classes in a large tent. for four hours. This was our daily routine we used to undertake for two and half months.

Experience of camp life.

It was really tough life to follow the routines for the first few days. After field training in the morning and attending classes in the afternoon ,there was full life in the evening. During that time there were several arrangement of indoor games like table tennis. badminton. volleyball, billiards chess etc. In the holidays , there was an arrangement for cricket and football.. We enjoyed the camp life heartily. There was a separate forum for group discussions in every night. There were around forty trainees joined in the camp . The atmosphere of the camp was so healthy and beautiful that we totally forgot the bitter experience of the cold. The superior officers were so friendly in the evening and at night that we had no grudge against them for strict discipline and punctuality. It was really a nice experience we gathered during our camping days . and recapitulate so long after thirty four years. It was no doubt a fact to remember that we had to bear with the sufferings of camp life . It was our solace that these sufferings were part and parcel of our settlement training. Now the days were numbered with the closing of settlement training . At last the last day came and the camp was declared as closed with " Camp Fire" . All the trainees and the dignitaries dispersed with heavy heart.

Conclusion

Camping in a life is really a rare experience . Had I not attended the camp life , I would have missed a thrilling experience. The camp site was so beautifully located at 35 kilometers distance of India and Bhutan border. In the back drop of camp , there were large number of Tea Gardens. In the holidays we used to visit tea gardens. It was really our charming experience.
