What a wet winter it was, but not so cold in England. Is Spring arriving, or should we keep our woolies on? Can the weather man really know? Read on to find out more

It's time to Weather it

I am sure the winter of 2013 will go down in history as being one of the wettest. Like many other people I watched with horror all the stories on the news of people being evacuated from their homes because of floods, and viewed with wonderment, boats going up what had been high streets to rescue some trapped in their homes. Some lost all their Christmas presents, and personal belongings, some even lost their lives. Some people had to spend that special time away from loved ones in centres, and are probably still waiting for their homes to be habitable again.

I reailse how lucky I was, the worst that could happen to us was rain and more rain, but how could I complain about that after what others had to suffer? Driving in my car past fields that had now become waterlogged, no sheep or cows could graze in them, and much worse, the farmers crops destroyed, and their livelihood under threat. What a terrible winter it must have been for them, I just hope they can survive financially.

After came the sunshine

I held my breath waiting for the snow to follow, January and February is often the time, the bleak time part just after the brightness of Christmas and New Year festivities are behind us, but no. Out came the sun, and the temperatures became mild.

I viewed the sunshine with suspicion, and the mildness too, but all the flowers disagreed. Out burst the golden daffodils, they thought April had arrived. The blaze of gold amongst the green grass is so uplifting, and even bluebells are lifting their heads in some of the wooded areas where I walk my dog, a beautiful carpet of blue to please the eye.

The trees were not to be outdone, blossoms of pink and white are glowing in the sun, and there is a reals sense of spring in the air. Could it be we have left the threat of winter behind?

But not today?

The weatherman has to sound bright and cheerful, even when he is delivering bad news. No-one wants to hear that the wind is going to be gale force, and the rain is going to lash down, but someone has to do it.

Last night he warned that the temperatures will drop, and he was not wrong. Today when I walked Leo, a jumper was not enough, on went my padded coat. The sky darkened with the threat of rain too, and I hear the winds are going to be strong in East Anglia, so I guess we will get the north wind blowing across the sea too. There is an old saying "Ne'er cast a clout til May is out," and it still holds good today.

Last year summer started late, but what a good one, day after day of beautiful sunshine. I am hoping that will be the same again, the sun makes us all feel good. But in the meantime I will embrace whatever mother nature has in store for us, and I hope all those affected by the unending rainfall of the past winter can soon get their lives back on track.

Summer poured with abundant rain,
Showing truth in memory lane.
As Sun now shines in Autumn Muse,
Showing truth in Winds abuse.

Blowing the leaves bringing the flower,
Leaving all in unending shower.
As all now look at their Summer Love,
Whom they left behind way up Above.

Bringing in Eternity in Riot of Spring,
Autumn holding all in Lord of Ring.
As Summer just shows truth of Love,
As Winter finds the carpet Above.

Pulling the elements with Seasons of Sun,
Earth, Wind Fire, together as One.
Showing Water and Love overflowing waves,
Giving rise to the Notes on Staves.

Musical entreaties singing all Life,
Putting an end to all pain and strife.
As all now sleep forever in Love,
We now take over from heavens Above.

Guarding and guiding no messing around,
Destroying the darkness that did surround.
As storms now calm and rainbows alight,
Showing the hope giving up the fight.

As all now feel it as they now cry,
Feeling the truth from way up high.
While the two of them now nestle forever,
This is the truth from Earth's endless River.

As no other can ever show it this way,
Making the winds now move and sway.
As the chimes now ring to open the door,
This is the Life's Keeper showing what's in store.

Protect our Planet Earth its the only way,
Other wise life dies and all goes away.
None of live and everything is of past,
In the moment of eternity just meant to last.

Looking at the beautiful sunshine and the blue sky this morning Carol , it is hard to remember the awful wet and cold days we have had recently . That is one of the beauties of the English climate . Snow one day and sunshine and daffodils the next .
Wonderful share .
Bless you
Stella ><

What a great idea to do the FB like. I may have to include my author page on a future article.

Yes, we say in AR that if you don't like the weather, wait a day, and it's true. We were warm in nearly shorts yesterday and today my heavy coat was back on. I predict a huge storm the last day of March due to the Old Farmer's Almanac proverb; we had a snowstorm the first weekend in March, but the first day was a lovely one. In a week, we'll know if the adage held.

Lovely share Carol with apt videos to go with it. Weather has become unpredictable like we tend to be too! However, we have warm weather right through the year in tropical Asia though the rains are playing truant more often - siva
