The wonders of creation will keep us enthralled forever but we should stick with the basics to unravel the mysteries. The foundation has to be strong but no species, including the mighty us, can really hope for outside help unless we prove worthy of it; looks like we are still stuck on the starting block!

Train of Life

We start with a clean slate when we set our eyes on this wonderful planet seeing others with hope and mixed emotions as they do likewise. The innate awareness we are born with tries to make sense of where and what we are as we make our presence felt. Those who welcome us are equally anxious that we are comfortable and everything is alright with us. We come with a higher purpose than living day to today but that depends on our awareness to make sense of what our lives are about. Some are able to add value, leave their mark, more than others. However, we spend most of our time in our efforts to survive and blend with society. Einstein too pondered “I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts; the rest are details.” It looks like we will never know! The vehicle we all travel in is on auto pilot though we have some control over individual destiny – the choices we have are many once we board the train of life!

Exercising our Choices

We are always left wondering about life in general and anxious about our personal journey. Though we have choices aplenty they prove limited in the whole scheme of things. We cannot choose our parents to start with or where we are born and the circumstances we find ourselves in. But we can better our lot through own efforts and with some luck. Who we meet also matters as some can change our destiny for better or worse. We meet umpteen people in our journey and with some we build lifelong relationships. But they are separate individuals and react in their own way. Our approach could be the same but some like us while others even loathe us! Then our paths can take different turns and we start all over again trying to find meaning and comfort.

Blessings of Security

We are blessed in many ways in terms of security we enjoy to survive.

Encased in outer body: Our body can be an asset though may prove a liability too when it drags us down due to ill health. Our real self is well camouflaged by it and never revealed completely though our body language can be a giveaway.

Family and Society: We are born within a family and also in a greater circle of society. That gives us defenses from harm. There is a natural bonding and empathy that we all seek refuge in in times of stress.

Beliefs: Though they vary many believe in a Creator. We take it that He will take care of us when others are unable to, sort of our last bastion of defense. We are sure to be recalled when we take our last breath. If birth is a miracle death too should prove likewise.

Inner awareness: We have a homing instinct within us that guides us along to the path we take though we have choices to make. So we sort of enjoy the best of both worlds – the guidance and independence.

Parts of a Whole

We are individuals though form parts of the creative process. A baton is handed over to us and we too do likewise when we depart. In between is the time we have here – no one knows how much beforehand. As long as we are alive our job is undone! Some leave without notice while others linger on – so we have limited control over our time-frame but many are the choices we can make! The dualities in the creative process are many – we have to weigh in the consequences to the best of our ability. We are aware of our mortality all the time subconsciously. In our dreams we travel to many realms that we cannot connect with the reality of life here – another of the wonders of creation!

Actors in a Play

We have to face realities of life; play many a part in terms of relationship we build – sort of actors on the stage of life. The Bard said “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts.” We play children as well as parents at the same time! We let others lead us but take charge in another stage at the same time. Our attitude matters too. We trust some while are suspicious of others. Strangers lend a hand of help more than those we trusted – are they in disguise that we are unable to place in this life? What motivates them to be near us in times of need? No one is really abandoned and help is always at hand. The overall oneness of creation prevails though we may see through blinkered glasses of hatred and suspicion. When we extend the olive branch of friendship it is accepted as it goes straight to the heart of the receiver. The challenge for us could well be how to live in harmony and realize we are just the same – the hatred is negative emotion due to our fear of others’ motives.

Shared Journey

It is time for us to bury our old ways and agree on the basics that should override other issues that tend to divide us. Reason should prevail over raw emotions for us to take the next step. God was supposed to have micromanaged during earlier times, but have we not traveled generations in our paths and learned the lessons? We may never unravel the mysteries of creation and Einstein’s yearnings could be a cry in the wilderness but we should press on with our quest to rise higher to enhance the quality of life; step by step we may know by intuition the purpose of the creative process so that we can become better co-creators. The emptiness within is palpable in each of us and the essence of all our beliefs can guide us to a destination that is so much fulfilling for a shared journey. Bury the differences for a better future based on the oneness of humanity and creation and that is what was clearly meant to be; listen to the prompt within!

Siva, Another great article my friend. It is true that we may never know God's thoughts, as Einstein puts it, while in the physical but hopefully mankind will continue to evolve spiritually and maybe someday have a better understanding. I am content at the moment to feel that all things are connected and all have a purpose. Of course that doesn't mean that I have stopped seeking to know more. Blessings.

I appreciate and applaud your take, thanks Kingwell. As you have said few times we have similar views about life in general and coexistence. One should take all beliefs with a pinch of salt as we are human and hence prejudiced. We accept the faith we are born into while have disinterest and suspicions about others!

Sadly, we need wars to think about coexistence! After the First WW, League of Nations came into being while United Nations after the Second. Now big powers are acting unilaterally and when Russia came on the scene in Syria US did not like it. It seems we never learn or forget the lessons too fast.

I quote Einstein again "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

War follows peace and it is soon war again - let us stick to the basics to break this chain "united we stand, divided we fall" That applies to humanity and by correlation creation itself as we have the power increasingly to destroy life on this planet. Then no one will forgive us at all! siva

As you know dear Siva ...I believe in the Almighty God of the universe who created every good thing , and inHis beloved Son , Jesus Christ , who gave Himself as a willing sacrifice for the whole world , so that all who believe in Him can be Born-Again and live eternally in His love both now and for all eternity .
God richly bless you dear friend .

Thanks dear Stella for your support as always. I do look forward to them.

The essence of all religion is peace and coexistence though some manipulate them to suit their own ends. No religion exhorts followers to kill others but the world, sadly, is full of violence and religious fervor is used as an opium towards this end.

Every faith has merit and it is up to us to distill them dispassionately to get to the core, essence - siva

“We start with a clean slate.”

A lot of people tell us this.

Are we really all born with a clean slate though?

What does that mean, or refer to anyway, to this life only, perhaps?

Cleanliness is a form of love, and the chance of a clean slate is given to us at the beginning of each birth and the invisible ink underneath it, which is our karma, only shows through, when we are ready to receive its previously missed lesson, once more again.

That’s how I see it working anyway, siva

Thanks Spirited. I welcome your value addition.

Agreed karma is carried forward from our past lives, ingrained in our psyche. I remember Mike Powers responding likewise to my post at YCN years ago that all do not react the same way to circumstances here.

What I meant was - we can chart our path on the canvas, even wipe them clean to restart again.

I believe contemplation of the paths we take should help us to make wise choices and for me foremost among them is to act as co-creators, spread love and that is the building block of creation.

When our actions are inspired by listening to "inner voice" we can override the effects of negative past karma. It is said some do so to avoid repetitive births and deaths, thereby rise to higher realm - siva

Thanks for clarifying siva, I agree, we get a fresh start each time in a way, new minds of a kind, a different body, and environment etc. etc. etc.

Thanks again Spirited, we should reinvent ourselves and not depend too much on what is written in the scriptures literally - sort of read between the lines!

With regard to reading between the lines, I recall the words - when a head of state says "I will never sell my country's interests" it really means - he has just done it!

I believe we can consciously change our destiny though creation may be set on auto-pilot - siva

Dear Siva, you are absolutely right in saying that the beauties of creation are limitless. However this is possible when we see beauty in life and nature. To relish such beauty, we need to be peaceful inwardly, for such inner beauty will radiate in all our thoughts, words and actions. Bad traits like anger, jealousy, ego, selfishness, greed, intolerance etc means we are not able to appreciate the wonders of creation. God has created us in our original and untainted pure nature. That's the beauty of creation which lasts only so long as we imbibe good qualities and good living. Peaceful co-existence with our fellow human beings, for example, enables us to enjoy the beauties of creation..

Thanks dear Subra for your wise input as always. Our attitude decides our altitude - when we are obsessed with wealth and by selfish pursuits we leave empty handed as what we sow are left behind on this shore! When we embrace society and lead a wholesome life then we leave our mark, positive footprints, not only here but also on our soul that should stand us in good stead forever. We should ponder and contemplate the path we take often and make course corrections when needed rather than turn a blind eye to realities that warn us of the pitfalls inherent in the choices we have made.

Our true self and inner voice is deep within us and we should reduce the din and distraction to listen to it for guidance. We should reflect our true nature in our actions for society to benefit. The spread that the Creator has presented us is such that we can enjoy a heavenly life but some feel that is not enough still! Everyday gives us renewed hope and what more can we ask for? Yes, we should count our blessings than get drowned in self-created misery.

Let us spread the cheer around and leave this shore with a take of having done our best as we may not pass this way again. I believe our Creator exists in His creations - that is everywhere that we see and in places that we are not even aware of - siva

I wonder about creation and, by extension, how and why it was created, Then, who are we, and why we are here. That is the yearning of all thinking folks, even those like Einstein not excluded.

Yes Vellur, hatred is too burdensome to lug around and we are all the same. We will not know who our parents and children are if we were not made aware of them. That is why I believe we meet some who take kindly to us due to past linkages, relationships - siva

Thanks Ptrikha. Let us stop talking about different Gods which is against all logic and reason. We share the same air that we breathe and have similar feelings, yearnings. Any man/woman relationship, whatever the beliefs, produces an offspring - that proves the oneness of creation but then the path we take is our choice; are we not blessed? siva
