Making Choc Chip Cupcakes

Choc chip cupcakes are loved and enjoyed in many parts of the world. It is in their very nature to make one salivate at the mere thought of getting a small taste. There is something aesthetically pleasing about them, calling for a slight pause upon catching a glimpse of one at a store. Cupcakes will probably never lose their appeal to the masses. While they are very enjoyable, many struggle with the issues of having to find a good bakery or store where they can purchase freshly baked and tasty cupcakes.

Some bakeries fall into the trap of adding just a little bit too much sugar or making other alterations that only serve to ruin the experience. It is at that point that it occurs to some that if only they had the necessary skills, they would bake the choc chip cupcakes the right way. The recipe and the instructions below will go a long way in imparting the necessary knowledge and practical skill required to make choc chip cupcakes.


2 cups self raising flour

1 cup of milk

¾-cup sugar

4 eggs

2 teaspoons baking powder

125g of softened butter

100g of softened butter for the icing

1 ½ cups icing sugar mixture

1-teaspoon vanilla extract

6 ounces of chocolate/1 cup dark choc chips

½ teaspoon of salt

1-tablespoon cocoa powder

Procedure to follow

Once all the ingredients are set out, it is time to start preparing them for the baking part. To start off, you have to take the self-raising flour and sift it into a bowl. Add the baking powder and some salt then start mixing them until you feel they are adequately mixed. Once that is done, you can start adding the 125 grams of butter, the sugar and the 1-teaspoon vanilla extract to the mix. If you are fortunate enough to own an electric mixer, you can use that to mix the ingredients in the bowl. Use the mixer until the mixture feels creamy.

While you are dealing with the mixing, step off to the side and switch on the oven, pre heating it at 180 degrees Celsius. Take the chocolate and melt it over boiling water then cool it. Go back to the mixture in the bowl and add the eggs one at a time. Add the cool chocolate and half a cup of milk to the mixture and mix accordingly. Once done, take the 12-cup muffin pan and line it with paper cups. Then fill those cups with the mixture. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Use a skewer or a toothpick to insert through the middle of cupcake. If it comes out clean then they are ready. Give them about six minutes on the pan then place them on wire racks to cool.

As for the icing, take the 100 grams of butter, the icing sugar and the remaining milk and mix them using the electric mixer. Add the cocoa powder to the mix. The chocolate icing is now ready and you can spread it on the cupcakes. The cupcakes are now ready to serve. You now have the power to make your own cupcakes in the comfort of your home.
